The Bridge has gained another Hound - Biscuit

Biscuit arrived in our care on the 14th July and upon his arrival it was apparent all was not well with his bottom.

You'll recall after various visits to the vets, attempts of surgery it was discovered Biscuit had a polyp in his bottom which could not be operated on due to the complexity of the surgery together with Biscuits age, we felt it wouldn't be kind to put him through such major surgery which could involve breaking his pelvis and risk his bowel flooding his insides.

There were thoughts that potentially it could be cancer but thankfully this wasn't proved on the tests.

Biscuit was home with his foster family, who went on to officially adopt him. As Biscuit was on palliative care he would always fall under the BRNGB family but he deserved his own family who loved him dearly; and boy did they love him dearly.

Biscuit had a wonderful Christmas with his family, although he was on pain medication and medication to help him with his poops he was such a very happy boy.

Biscuit would pine for his daddy when he was at work and his mummy just accepted she was the spare human who cleaned up after him and snuggled him down on the sofa behind her when she was working. He always needed to be close to a human, spare or not.

Biscuit celebrated his 11th birthday with his family and was totally spoilt.

Biscuit had a holiday planned to The Hideaway. He had an amazing few days there with his family, exploring the paddocks, watching the goats and alpacas, playing with his brothers.

Sadly, Biscuit's holiday was cut short, on Sunday 12th January, Biscuit became very unwell. We all knew this time was coming and the time he was with his family would be cut short.

Biscuit was not in pain, he was playing so happily with his brothers the night before. He'd been exploring, sleeping and eating happily.

Biscuit's mum and dad took him to a vet who have treated previous foster hounds, and the decision was made for Biscuit to make his final journey. Other things were happening inside due to the Polyp growing and pushing his insides around. Biscuit drifted off to sleep with his mum and dad with him, he was snoring gently when he crossed the bridge being cuddled so tightly.

Biscuit was loved so very much, not only by his family but all of you who supported him and his volunteers.

6 months of unconditional love was not enough, but it was enough for Biscuit.

Our hearts go out to Biscuit's family, his supporters and of course his previous family.

Thank you for helping us help and love this boy – fly high Biscuit, no more medication you are free to run and play forever more.

We have the privilege of adopting Dylan. The whole process was seamless and very reassuring that they cover all bases, both in relation to vetting us and also in the assessment of the hound
