This is Arti our beautiful BRNGB rescue. We ere so lucky to have him come into our lives in 2019. He is the friendliest and sweetest boy - loves everyone. He loves his pals - our cat Phoebe and his late companion Basset Tulip.  Loves his walks and holidays with beaches and lots of new friends.  We are so fortunate to have the privilege of having him in our lives, thank you Kate and Arthur

Happy 3rd Birthday to the BRNGB babies

BACKSTORY  On the 10th April 2021 Millie arrived into the BRNGB family.  As normal she went had a vey check, and foster mum even asked the vet "she's not pregnant is she?" because something just seemed off about this very judgey fluff ball!  "No" said vet......."mmmmmm" said foster mum!  Fast forward to the 22nd April, and we relented and arranged for a scan of Millie..........and ohhhhhhh yes she was most definitely pregnant. like very pregnant.....so pregnant it couldn't be seen how many babies there were! We didn't panic (much), we didn't hammer Amazon next day delivery (much), we didn't ask a milliion questions (much). On the 27th April 2021, Dawn, Arthur, S...

Wonderful Wednesday

Happy gotcha day for the 7th April Benny, 6 years since we adopted you from BRNGB, you were first seen when we helped as a volunteer transporter from Peterborough up to Wetherby where we met Christine your foster mum to be.  We instantly knew we had to adopt you, you were so loving and friendly and managed to eat a whole packet of M&S chicken fillets as we were told you were anxious and stressed so we were trying hard to make you feel relaxed.  On collection day you were pleased to meet our other bassets Douglas and Bruno and settled in well.  Although at times you were aggressive when putting on your harness or coat, after a vet visit he noted you had a partial cruci...

Thank you from Henry

Henry would like to send you all a big thank you for his wishlist.   He's been with us for just over a week now.  There have been some trying times for him, getting into a routine of being with a family after being on his own for a while, he's just a live wire but really wants to please and be with humans.  Thank you for your continued support, we really couldn't keep helping Hounds like Henry without it

Update on Flash and Scout

If you have been following their story, you will recall that both Flash and Scout joined the BRNGB family last year, Flash in December and Scout in June.  Both amazing dogs, both brought so much joy to their foster families, both mixed breed hounds.  We made the heart breaking decision that we were not the right rescue for them, and found two other rescues who were better equipped to help these wonderful hounds find their forever homes.  The amazing folks at Mrs Murray's Cat and Dog Home have found Scout her forever home! We are so so happy for this lovely girl, who has had her meet and greet and goes home today!  She's going to have a Fox Hound sibling to enjoy her ...

Wonderful Wednesday

This weeks Wonderful Wednesday is..................... Hey there, I'm Harley, but you probably know me better as the hooligan extraordinaire.  I joined the BRNGB family in September 2021, as a foster, and then my foster family adopted me! Life after adoption? It's been a blast! I live with my mummy, daddy, two sisters (Dixie and Tilly), and two brothers (Milo and Domino).  Our house is like a revolving door for doggy visitors, thanks to our foster family status. It's always a bit wild, but hey, I get to make tons of new friends and, let's be real, the whole world revolves around me, so I get to boss everyone around.  It's a ruff life, but someone's gotta do it! When I first me...

Please welcome Brenwyn

Please welcome this lovely little girl Brenwyn into the BRNGB family. She joined us on the 13th April.  She's a tiny little 18mths old, she is a darling and has had a really poor start in life due to her poor breeding. Her owner has been in contact with us for a while as Brenwyn has been undergoing tests as she has struggled to maintain weight.  Brenwyn has been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia, IBS and gastritis. She is now on a special diet of hydrolysed kibble and things are settling down which is wonderful news. Sadly her owner couldn't continue to care for Brenwyn, which had nothing to do with her diagnosis, and they made the heart breaking decision to surrender Bre...

Dog Buggy

People may think that Dog Buggy's are silly and making dogs lazy, but they can be used for the benefit of dogs for a variety of reasons. Think of it this way, if you have a (human) toddler and you want to go to the park for them to play, you push them there in a buggy, they get out, blow off some steam, and then you push them home again. Walking them to the park means they're tired when they get there, don't enjoy their play, then really tired (and normally then grumpy) walking back. Hounds are no different! Take Willow for instance. Willow has recently been diagnosed with an illness which has effected her balance and co-ordination whilst her medication is being balanced out. Having a buggy ...

Welcome Henry and a wish list

OK ladies and Gents, hold on to your hearts and welcome Henry into the BRNGB family. Henry will be 4 this summer, and is currently in emergency foster. He came to us as an emergency after his owner was sadly taken poorly and taken into hospital. Henry spent some time home alone with family popping into him, whilst the decision was made that he joined our family. Henry will be moving to his foster this weekend to undergo his assessment. Henry is proving to be a wonderful boy, considering he's had a scary few weeks he has a loving nature, he's showing no separation issues, isn't fazed by cats, is currently living in harmony with another 4 dogs. He happily plays on his own and does love to...

Tracker avaliable

We have a Tractive Tracker which was purchased in September 2023 with a year subscription worth £84.00.  This was purchased for Scout however her new Rescue didn't want to keep it.  We are looking for a new home for a donation for the Tracker.  We are able to transfer the ownership.  If you are interested in taking this over please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. They are fab things for those hounds that like to take themselves off for an adventure, or working dogs that you want to keep an eye on when they are out of sight.  Obviously we do not believe dogs should be off lead without recall, but these are great for peace of mind (I actually use one with Bernie, who to be fair ...

An update on Scout

After months and months of searching for Scout's forever home (10 months!); after three foster homes; after countless blogs on our website we are so pleased to announce that Scout has moved to a new Rescue who will be in a better position than us to help her. We know that we cannot help Scout any further, we cannot reach the audience she needs to find her forever home, despite all the shares and comments she had, which we thank you for. Scout has been accepted to Mrs Murray's Dog and Cat Home who are better equipped to assist her. We will still be updating about Scout's journey when we are able, and, as with Flash, are remaining responsible for some of Scout's financial needs, we haven'...

Update on Flash

As you will recall, Flash came into our care in December 2023, a very young, playful, puppy Basset / Collie.  We had Flash in foster and it became apparent that we couldn't give him what he needed to find his forever home.  He was loved, and we tried so very hard to help him on his journey; but sometimes you just have to admit you are not the right rescue for a Basset/Collie.  Flash went to Borders Pet Rescue on the 1st April.  They are more suited to be able to help him on a one to one basis with training and finding him his perfect home.   He is doing really well and is proving to be what we knew of him, a wonderful, fast learning, playful, loving pup.  W...

Holiday raffle time

It's been a busy week for some of our fosters at the vets this week! Belle had a check up regarding her epilepsy medication, her ears had a good clean and her nails were cut all under general anaesthetic (obviously not the medication check up!) She has the most pretty feet now! Buddy was neutered, we really think he can rock a donut donut! Alfie and Tilly had their initial health check up. Hector had his ears check and his weigh in, we're pleased to say he's lost some more weight but his ears are a concern. Next week we have Nelly at the vets for her dental work; Barry for his eye examination. We have Florence and Sherman who need further treatment as well. All in all very busy, and at times...

Thank you from Alfie and Tilly

Alfie and Tilly were very excited earlier this week when the Amazon man arrived!  Just wow!  Look at all of their goodies donated by you wonderful people.  We like Hounds to have their own things when they join in foster.  Some come with everything a Hound could need, some even with the kitchen sink! and if they do we don't ask for any wish lists.  Some come with little, or maybe collars and leads that have seen better days and we don't want to risk a breakage when out walking so we ask for new.  Everything that is donated belongs to the Hound and will stay with them in foster and go to their forever homes with them.  If they come with everything they need,...
