What a fabulous weekend was had by all! ❤️
The feedback we’ve received has been incredible – everyone thoroughly enjoyed Camp Basset 2026.
This was our biggest Camp Basset yet, with 60 humans and 50 hounds enjoying the wonderful space so generously donated by Sally and Tom. A huge thank you also to Bev Wrenn for donating and cooking the BBQ, and to Helen, Stuart, Sue, Barbara, Sally, Tom, Alison, Phil, Alan, Rachel, Diana and Frank for their amazing help with setting up, keeping everything running smoothly, and clearing away afterwards. Camp Basset really does take a mini village to make it happen, and we are so grateful to every one of you.
We welcomed families who travelled from Southern Ireland, Scotland, Devon, the North of England, as well as many wonderful local supporters. Seeing everyone come together was truly special.
Friday night was a fantastic start to the weekend, and from what we hear, Saturday night was just as much fun!
There was plenty of delicious food, lots of cold drinks, and, of course, endless basset fun. Activities included our parade of rescue hounds, the basset derby, catch the sausage, longest sit, waggiest tail, hurdling, egg and spoon race, longest ears, shortest ears, handsome hound, prettiest houndette and fancy dress. Alongside the games, there was a raffle, “Guess the Name of the Hound”, and “How Many Treats Are in the Jar?”
Lots of shade, cool mats, jackets, cutest basset hats and paddling pools for all to enjoy.
But the biggest highlight of all was simply spending time together – catching up with old friends, meeting adopters, making new friends (both two-legged and four-legged!), sharing cuddles, laughter and plenty of basset chatter. It really was a joyful weekend.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and helped make our fourth Camp Basset such a wonderful success.
We’re also delighted to announce that an amazing £2,300 was raised through ticket sales, raffles and donations. Every single penny will go directly towards helping the hounds in our care. ❤️
