Age – 2 years

Sex – Male

Location – Cambridgeshire

Hugo has been in foster since early July.  He settled in well, bonding quite quickly with my basset.  Hugo likes to snuggle with my basset and Lab.

Hugo loves to play with my basset and loves to play zoomies and bitey face, Hugo loves walkies and is quite vocal when the leads come out and he realises it is walkies time.Hugo walks happily on a bungie lead, but is quite a trip hazard on a normal lead as he loves to zig zag in front of you!! Hugo is confident and happy to meet people and other dogs on our outings

Hugo is happy to be boosted into the car.

Hugo travels well in the car and has been on quite a few outings travelling well and quietly in the boot of the car – both on his own and with my dogs he is happy just watching out of the window.

Hugo shows no signs of food aggression, he is fed twice a day and does inhale his food at Olympic speed!

He is fed in the same room as the resident hounds, he did try once to snaffle some food from the resident basset but was told under no uncertain terms that was not the done thing!  Since then he’s not tried since.

He loves a dentastix at night time and any treats given are ones which are quick to be consumed so there are no fisticuffs.

Hugo is clean in the house and will go to the back door when he wants to go outside although whilst Hugo has been with me the weather has been such that the back door is usually open so he is able to come and go as he pleases.

Hugo sleeps in he kitchen with the resident dogs at night and has the run of the kitchen and front room during the day.

Hugo has been left with the resident dogs happily for up to 4 hours without showing signs of separation anxiety.  He did scratch the kitchen door the first couple of nights but has soon settled into the routine in foster.

Hugo is a big boisterous boy who is learning that it is not acceptable to hurl himself at you in excitement! He is a counter bouncer but is also learning that this is not allowed, Hugo is happy to surrender his spoils from counter bouncing or anything acquired from the coffee table.Hugo has learned to sit before he is given his food.

Hugo isn’t too sure about his paws being touched and was a little grumbly at the vets when they were looking at his nails.

Hugo does need continued training, he is learning no and that counter surfing is not acceptable so you will need to keep up with the training.

Hugo is a big cuddly boisterous doofus who spends a great deal of time upside down dreaming of his furever sofa. Hugo has always had a fur sibling so is best suited to a home with a resident playful dog

Hugo has not come across cats or small furies since he’s been with us.

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Hugo is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including dogs will need to be able to travel to his foster home to meet him and his foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Hugo’s foster family, so that all of his history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of his needs and requirements.

Hugo comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Hugo as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.
