SHERLOCK!
This week the spot light is on Sherlock, a one year old Basset cross
Sherlock arrived in foster earlier this month, a very scared, nervous little boy
His family surrendered him as there was un-rest with the other resident hounds which was causing a lot of stress to all of the dogs and humans alike
Don’t fear though, it didn’t take long for Sherlock to find his feet and within an hour of arriving in foster, he came out of his shell, bit like how a cork comes out of a bottle of fizz!
He settled into foster life very quickly and enjoys his food
So how did his week go?
He did a little renervating to his new bedroom…..
He slept quite a lot
He met the cats and was a very good boy, he does seem to follow the lead of the other resident hounds
He decided that windowsills were a fabulous place to survey his new land and basically became a curtain twitcher with his foster siblings
He played “the floor is larva” and decided that furniture was the place to be!
Oh and the coffee table is THE PLACE to hang out
He loved his wish list from his new BRNGB family
He enjoyed the land at his foster home, playing chase and generally running off all that puppy energy
He met the resident goats and chickens
He’s learnt that if he shares his space the other dogs will leave him alone
He’s still working on that the floor is for paws
But he’s definitely got the “look cute and I can get away with it” in the bag
He still has some things to learn, like the toilet is outside, and for the ball to be thrown you have to share the thrower
He’s very helpful in pointing out if there’s any issues with the fencing that he thinks he might be able to get through (don’t worry he can’t!)
And is a fabulous supervisor
And slept a little more
He found the delight which is fox poop and the not so delightful first bath!
He didn’t like his bath towel going in the wash and really couldn’t understand why he couldn’t catch it!
He had his foster assessment health check, he loved everyone at the vet, sat on their knees and had cuddles, but the vet table didn’t give him that warm fuzzy feeling, maybe there is some furniture he doesn’t like sitting on!
He was given a clean bill of health, and weighed in at 14.9kg
He posed for photos…..which ended in play time
By the end of his first week:-
Sherlock’s new nickname is Sher-Wood as is is never found too far away from Woody, a resident hound he loves to play with and gets a lot of confidence from.
He’s managed to crack the house training.
His other nickname is Skippy, due to his ability to leap into the air from sanding!
All in all he is a wonderful, high energy, fast learner, playful, loving little boy who is thriving in foster.
