Name: Ralph

Sex: Male

Age: 10 years

Location: Berkshire

Meet Ralph, a lovely, loving, playful 10 year old hound.

Ralph originally came into the BRNGB family back in March 2022, he was originally adopted by his foster family, sadly due to unforseen reasons, and nothing to do with Ralph, he was surrendered back to BRNGB in August this year and has been under assessment since.

We are pleased to say he is now ready for his forever home, here's what his foster mum has to say about Ralph.

Ralph, the perfect older gentleman....well nearly.

He's an absolute darling, walks well on a lead, fairly good off lead can wander off if he feels like it, but always comes back.

Totally house trained, no food aggression, eats with my 2, does hoover for any left overs

He's on special hypoallergenic food due his ear problem.  The food is helping, and we would ask that he remains on this food so his ears do not go back to how they were.   This has been vet recommended, we've included a link below so any potential adopters can research the food.

Ralph's ears need twice weekly clean out and sponge round, he's not too happy about having it done but he is getting better, with a little coaxing and a treat afterwards he lets you get on with it gently.  His foster mum on any meet and greet will go over this with you.

The ear treatment has also been vet recommended, again a link is below so you can do some research.

His coat is lovely, rhe eally loves a good brush, he just loves to be touched, a real cuddle monster .

He sleeps through the night in his bed snores like a trooper . He has been left for 4 hours with the resident dogs without any trouble. He loves playing with his toys and loves a game of bitey face with mine.

All in all he's a super older lad. He can be an opportunist, he's raided the bin and the fridge a couple of times for a midnight feast but doesn't do it very often.

He's happy with other dogs, his previous home he was an only dog, we will consider no resident dogs in his new home, but to do so he would need someone around all the time as he loves company.

We would prefer Ralph's home to be with other dogs as he loves to play with them and his toys

Ralph doesn't like the postman, that's about all we could find that he doens't like, we believe that he would be able to live with dog savvy cats and children.

Ralph is going to be very much missed by his foster mum who we thank for helping Ralph on his way.

Ralph's needs:-

-  Someone who will be home in the initial few weeks to help him settle

- Someone who understands that his diet is important to the care of his ears and this needs to be maintained as well as cleaning twice a week

- Any children in the home will need to be dog savvy

- Someone who is active, Ralph loves his walks

- Preferably a playful resident dog as Ralph does love to play - if no resident dog someone who is home 99% of the time as he does like company

- Ralph's blog will close for applicants at 8pm on Sunday 22nd October 2023.

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Ralph is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including dogs will need to be able to travel to their foster home to meet him and his foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Ralph's foster family, so that all of his history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of hisneeds, demands and requirements.

Ralph come with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Ralph as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.

Thank you for reading Ralph's blog. Please share where you are able

We have the privilege of adopting Dylan. The whole process was seamless and very reassuring that they cover all bases, both in relation to vetting us and also in the assessment of the hound
