Description

Where to start with Milo (AKA Miley Moo!)...

Milo is a text book basset hound, loving, affectionate, funny, stubborn, naughty, and above all absolutely beautiful!

Milo is a young dog, he is a supercharged ball of energy and fun, he loves to play, he loves to run, he loves his walks and is always ready and willing to head out on an adventure.

Milo has fitted in well with our family and the resident hounds, he is always ready to play a game of bitey face, and if he ever tires, he loves to cuddle up to his siblings or a human for a sleep.

Milo needs a home with a young, active and playful sibling, he wants and needs a friend to enjoy adventures with. We have an elderly resident hound and Milo struggles to understand why he does not want to play with him!

Milo is fully house trained, he has never made a mess in the house, he stands and scratches the door when he wants to go out, and does the same when he has finished and wants to come back in.

Milo has not been destructive in the house, he loves soft toys and his squeaky dog, and will proudly bring it to you when you return home, he has on occasions stolen decorative soft toys, but only to carry around with him as a comforter, he has never damaged one!

Milo has been left home with the resident hounds for up to 4 hours and has been absolutely fine, and is always happy to see you when you return home.

Milo is an active boy! He needs an energetic active family who like walking and the outdoors, and will take Milo on their adventures. He leaps around as soon as you mention walks or get his lead, and if you feel like having a lazy day he will happily remind you that he wants to go out!

Milo walks well on a lead, but does pull and snatch, purely because he wants to get to every person and dog to say hello, and is very scent oriented and will pull to follow his nose if he finds an interesting smell.

Milo walks and explores very well off lead and likes to stay in sight of you, his recall has been excellent apart from a couple of occasions when he has picked up a scent, but he comes straight back at the mention of a treat.

Milo has not shown aggression to dogs or humans when we have been out, however he reacts to cats when he sees them so would not be able to live with felines!

Milo has a secret side, he is an expert thief! He will counter surf and will steal any food he can get to, within a few days he had learned to open our clip top bin, he will happily open it, tip it over and rummage through to find something to eat! He learned to open our stair gates, and if unable to open them he will jump at them and try and knock them down!!

Milo does resource guard, he will growl, snap and try to bite if you try to take away something he has stolen. We have worked with BRNGB to deal with this, and we are very aware of what Milo can get to and try and remove any items he can potentially steal. Incidents of resource guarding have only occurred with items he has stolen, food he is given he happily eats, and will allow you to play with and even take off him! He sees stolen food as a game and brings it to you as soon as he has taken it to show you how clever he is, and straight away starts to grumble and wait for you to react and try and get it off him.

Milo has spent time supervised around our young grandchildren, however we have kept this to very limited periods under close supervision due to his resource guarding, with this in mind Milo is not suitable to be homed with young children.

Milo is fed separate from the resident hounds, he has a tinned food meal in the morning and evening and eats very well. He will remind you if you are late to serve his meal, and even bring you an empty bowl in his mouth if he can find one.

Milo sleeps downstairs at night either on his bed, or more regularly on one of the sofas with the resident hounds. He has on occasions tried to get through the stair gate to come and find us, but has resettled well.

Whoever Milo chooses to be his servants will be extremely lucky! He is the most beautiful loving boy who just wants to have fun and be loved!

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Milo is subject to an adoption fees and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including dogs will need to be able to travel to their foster home to meet him and his foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Milo's foster family, so that all of his history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of his needs, demands and requirements.

Milo comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Milo, as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.
