Wally has been an absolute dream in foster, and now it’s time for him to find his forever home.
Wally has been in foster with four cats and a parrot. He’s quite happy with the cats, but they are very dog savvy and one in particular spends his time trying to evict Wally from wherever he may be; Wally is very good natured about this and has not retaliated.
Wally can be quite bouncy around children, so to avoid any accidents of flying small humans, we would only consider homes with children of secondary school age.
Wally eats very well…apart from kibble. Kibble is a hard no from Wally. He currently eats Butchers grain free wet food with mixer biscuits twice a day, and will always hang around to see if there is anything else on offer once he has finished.
Wally sleeps on his foster parents bed, but is happy on the sofa or chair and loves having a snuggly blanket. He manages stairs and getting on and off the sofa very well. He’s quite happy to be lifted into the car and travels well.
Wally is left for a few hours on his own; he will bark on your departure but settles down with a treat and listens to the radio with free run of the house, until you’ve returned.
Wally is initially strong on lead when going for a walk, but soon settles down and is more than happy to meet humans and dogs alike when out and about. He does get very excited when he sees his lead.
When Wally first arrived, he would cock his leg a lot, his favourite target (when out) were car tyres…so of course he got his own car tyre in the back garden! He will indicate when he wants to go outside and is house trained.
Although Wally has not shown any type of aggression to humans, animals or the vet…he will yelp, run and hide when it comes to having his ears cleaned or touched.
Wally is an all rounder goof ball, he will steal shoes, is partial to stealing a toilet brush and generally looks at life as just a fun game.
Here’s what his foster family have to say about Wally, or for his formal name “Walter”
“Wally or Walter came to stay 3 months ago and totally slotted in straight away, much to Frank the cat’s dismay.
He has been a star whilst here; we initially had issues regarding cocking his leg, but found out that he was partial to car tyres. so put one in the garden and hey presto no further issues. May I add the tyre is available for rehoming with Wally!
Wally loves everybody and dogs he meets, he won’t let you walk past untill you have introduced yourselves to him. Wally has been a hit at the local pump track.where he has been named “chip dog”. He happily sits in among the teenagers eating whatever food they have, hence chips.
Wally has been walked either on a collar or lead and harness. He will initially pull but that is only so he can go and meet his adoring public.
Wally has lived with 4 cats and a parrot very well, but frank the cat will disagree.
Wally is a total cuddle monster loves to play, He will do commando rolls to initiate play and also loves mischief making stealing the toilet brush, slippers and anything else he can grab. If he knows you are going out or to work will steal your trousers?
Wally would be better suited to older children has he is quite bouncy.
Wally has been a total pleasure to foster. This boy will steal your heart and he’ll be a fab addition to any family. When we have been out on our own people ask “where’s Wally”? He has he has been a massive hit in the community.
Wally has been signed off by his vet, all vaccinations completed and he’s ready to find his forever home:-

You will all remember Lulu and Pippa, and Buddy and Skye who came from a breeding establishment earlier this year? Well we knew there was another basset there being used as a stud dog, however the owner was not willing to surrender him.
As always, Wally is under assessment and is not ready at this time to find his forever homes. Any enquiries regarding his adoption will go unanswered at this time.
Fast forward a few months and meet Walter, Wally to his friends who has joined us this weekend. Yes Wally is the stud dog. Unknown to us he was rescued by a supporter around March time, and they have looked after him ever since. They’ve had him neutered and started his journey into living in a home.
Sadly, Wally didn’t settle with one of the resident dogs, and we were recently contacted to see if we could help. Of course we said yes, and we were so relieved to hear that he had been out of the establishment for the last couple of months.
We don’t know how old Wally is but we will be doing some investigation to try to find out a little more about him.
Wally has been described as a bit of a bimbo, into everything, a lovely nature, no aggression, pulls like a train on lead, loves car trips and has put on some weight which was much needed.
He arrived with us yesterday and is finding his feet, a little unsettled last night but that is to be expected.
Wally does need some training treats and a new bed, a link to his wish list is below. If the list is empty all his wishes have been granted. If you would rather donate to his care then you can do so using the link below.
