This wasn’t really the way we thought we’d be celebrating our 12th birthday, sharing this boy’s very sad story.
Please welcome Henry, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen who joined our family today.
Henry is under assessment is not available for adoption, please no enquiries, they will go unanswered.
Henry was found by the Police after worried neighbours asked for a Welfare Check on his owner; sadly Henry was found laid next to his owner’s body, it is believed he had been there for 2 days. Our sincere condolences go out to the family and friend’s of Henry’s owners, his other parent had already passed away.
The Police took Henry into kennels, sadly they gave him quite a crew cut. The neighbour knew Henry and were heartbroken to know where he was, so managed to get Henry signed over to them; in turn they, after a couple of days surrendered Henry to us as they knew very little about his breed and wanted the best for him.
Henry is a very happy boy, loves people. He’s a tiny 14KG.
Henry has already been to the vets as there was bleeding from his bottom that we wanted to get checked out. His glands were full and have been emptied. The blood, the vet believes was coming from a growth/sore next to his glands. He has been given some antibiotics to see if this helps before having a full examination.
He does have a couple of lumps and bumps, samples have been taken and we are hopeful these are just fatty lumps.
His heart and lungs are fine, Henry is going to be 10 next month so that’s good news.
He does have some nasty teeth, that once he has settled in, will have a proper examination and any treatment these need.
Obviously Henry is quite overwhelmed at the moment and needs some time to decompress and get used to being in a new home with resident bassets.
Henry does have a wish list as he came with very little, we’ve included some balls, as he loves to chase a ball but hasn’t got one. As always anything donated will be Henry’s and will stay with him throughout foster to his forever home.
It you would like to make a donation to Henry’s care, and his arrival on our birthday, please do, the link is below.
As always, your support is appreciated, without you we can’t help hounds like Henry.
Welcome Henry, we look forward to watching your coat grow back and your personality come through.
