Well Mini has had quite a busy time since she came into foster.
She had her foster mum up in the early hours shortly after she arrived, panting, uncomfortable, restless. She was taken to the vets for a check up and they thought it would be prudent to carry out blood tests as pancreatic issues were potentially an issue. The bloods come back inconclusive. Next was a scan on her tummy to rule out pyometra, being a female that has been bred from this was a potential issue, thankfully the scan came back negative. A course of antibiotics, pain relief shot and sickness shot was given and Mini was back on top form within a few days.
Her eyes have also been examined, the cataract in one eye is more than likely hereditary and cannot be operated on. The cherry eye in her other eye is potentially the same situation.
Mini is a wonderful girl, who spends most of her time trying to get everyone to love her, including the resident hound. She loves being around people, dogs, older children. She has been left alone and with the resident hound for a couple of hours and takes it all in her little legged stride. Oh and stride, she may have teeny legs but she walks wonderfully on lead.
Mini is also quite determined…….so determined that when she came into season, her resident sister went on a little holiday to get away from Mini’s, erm, well determination. Pretty much every inanimate object in the home also wished it could go on holiday………. Thankfully though, we now know Mini’s last season and can plan her spay.
Oh! she also went to the Beach Invasion and loved being around all the other hounds, and having a big sleep over with lots of friends.
All in all, she’s a pleasure to have and is doing so very well (apart from the snoring, sound up for that video!)

Support BRNGB: Donate to Help Rescued Basset Hounds

5th September 2025
Please welcome 9 year old Mini into the BRNGB family. She had quite the welcome as her foster mum was having a little basset get together. 6 bassets in total, 4 of which are BRNGB Hounds and Mini was quite happy to have a sniff and then find the human with the treats, then the smallest human for hugs!
Mini is under assessment and is not ready to be adopted so please do not make any enquiries, these will go unanswered.
Mini will need her eye looking at, it appears she has cherry eye and her previous owner has said that her sight has gone in that eye. She is off to the vets today for a full check up and we can then get a plan into place as to what she needs.
So far she has been a dream in foster, a little nervy and follows her foster mum everywhere, but she’s settled and a very good girl.
She does need a wish list, link below. If you are able to donate Mini would be grateful. If the list is empty then her wishes have been granted. If you would rather donate to her care the link is also below. Or buy a sweetie name and be in with a chance of winning the bundle of wonderful items below.
Thank you for all your generosity to our hounds. You really do make a difference.
