It’s with a very heavy heart, Maisie’s foster family are writing her final page update so she can find her forever home, which we know is breaking their hearts, but they want to be able to keep on fostering with us and helping as many hounds in need as they can.

Here’s what they have to say about the lovely little Maisie:-
Maisie is a small basset but has is a little pocket rocket. She enjoys the great outdoors having been camping and loving every moment.
Maisie is allowed on the sofas and on our bed and enjoys a good cuddle and tummy tickles often rolling over on the floor in-front of you.
Maisie can be a little skittish barking a loud noises around her like slamming car doors bin men or delivery van reversing noises. Maisie doesn’t have any aggression or behaviour issues. She is a very sociable dog with other dogs when out and loves to play.
Maisie can be unsure of people when out especially children, she will step back if they are approaching. Maisie can also be wary of older people especially if they are wearing dark sunglasses.
Maisie would benefit from a home with at least one other playful dog and an active home and lifestyle. We would advise that there are no children at home and possibly more suitable to a couple. Maisie can be a little choosy with food and treats likening some one day and then not the next. Maisie has 2 meals a day but often doesn’t eat breakfast unless there’s toast and butter involved. Maisie’s favourite toy is the vibrating interactive ball, although she does like toys with squeakers.
Maisie walks nicely on the lead although can pull a little if not in the front as she loves sniffing and investigating when out and about. Maisie does have reasonable recall but like any basset if she gets a scent she can have cloth ears but will eventually come to you. Maisie loves the beach andhas over the foster period conquered her dislike of water.
Overall Maisie is a loving little girl who will need time and patience to allow her to settle in her forever home.
Doesn’t she just sound perfect?
Maise happily lives with two other bassets in foster; currently eats Autarky and Nature’s choice fresh chicken mince or Butchers. She loves a small jumbone and chicken or duck strips and has no known allergies.
Maisie is more than capable of getting on and off the bed herself, in and out of the car and up and down stairs, but she does believe that it’s easier with a little help from a slave and will happily have a boost up. She is teeny so a lift or a boost isn’t too bad on the slaves back.
Maisie can be left alone with the two resident bassets for up to 2 hours, obviously in a new environment this will need to be be built up along with trusting her new family.
Maisie is fully toilet trained, loves a cuddle and attention. She does know her own voice and can bark at unexpected noises. During her time in foster she has really grown in confidence. With time, patience and love she will continue to shine.
Maisie does have a high prey drive when it comes to squirrels and cats, so we will not consider a home with any small furries.
Because of the anxiety Maisie has shown around small children we will only consider homes with secondary school age children and older who understand that she will need to have her space whilst getting to know them. We do think Maisie would thrive in an adult only home.
Maisie is more than happy for her claws to be cut at home and her ears cleaned. She is also good at the vet.
One issue that Maisie has had in the foster home is the adult son…for some reason Maisie is very anxious around him and has been from the initial meeting with him. She will take little treats from him, but will bark and run away from him even when the other bassets are laid along side him. We have no clue why, he’s nothing but fun, loving and gentle with her and the other hounds and there is another adult male in the house that Maisie has no issues with.
Maisie’s vaccinations are not due until December 2026, but she has been examined by the vet and has been signed off as healthy.

- No small furries in the house
- Dog savvy Children over the age 13 – but they need to appreciate Maisie can be anxious
- Someone who is home a lot of the time to help Maisie settle in
- Not to be left for more than 4 hours at a time, and in the early days to build up to this gently
- A family who will involve Maisie in all their fun activities – she adores exploring out and about
- A family who will be willing to continue building Maisie’s confidence around strangers and understand that she just wants her own people
- Maise’s adoption fee is £350.00

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- Maisie is subject to an adoption fee of £350.00 and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including all dogs will need to be able to travel to her foster home to meet Maisie and her foster family.
- You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Maisie’s foster family, so that all of her history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of her needs, demands and requirements.
- Maisie comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.
- Maisie as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life

Well haven’t we been quiet about the lovely Maisie; apologies.
Maisie is a wonderful girl; she’s s teeny little thing but has the biggest attitude. Especially when it comes to her adult foster human brother; we really don’t know why but Maisie has taken a real dislike to him, unless he has a handful of treats. She will just bark at him and refuse to go near him regardless as to whether her hound foster siblings are climbing all over him. It’s quite sad really because he is a nice guy!
Maisie had a visit to Camp Basset and was a superstar, not phased by all the people and hounds around her. We think it actually helped boost her confidence a little.
She’s lived a very active foster life, camping, going on big hill hikes, as well as just lounging around and being a basset!
Her favourite toy is a vibrating ball, she adores it and will play with it for as long as her foster paretns can cope with her bouncing around and the noise!
Maisie has obviously had her vet check up and was a total dream for the vet, sat on the table, had a good check over and even her nails cut without any drama. She was giving a glowing report by the vets; no vaccinations were needed as these were done prior to her joining BRNGB.
She really is a wonderful girl, and a girl who will be looking for her forever ever home in the next few weeks so do keep an eye out for this page to be updated fully.

Please welcome Maisie into the family. Maisie only arrived today and is under assessment, so please do not make enquiries regarding her adoption, as these will go unanswered.
Maisie has arrived in her foster home, she has two BRNGB siblings to help her. At the moment she is being a little shy but investigating at her own pace.
She’s a tiny little dot who was perfect on her travels today.
