15th August 2026

It is with sadness in our hearts we let you know that Gossip gained her Angel Wings and made her final journey across The Bridge on Wednesday 12th August.

Sadly an aggressive cancer was found in her mouth; due to it’s location it was already causing Gossip problems with eating. It appeared so suddenly and without warning. After a discussion with the vet on Monday it was agreed that Gossip was too frail to have any treatment.

Her family took her home to spoil her for a couple of days before her final journey. She was happy, loved and comfortable for those last days, albeit spent most of the time sleeping.

Gossip was only part of our family for five weeks, but in that time she stole hearts and gave her family so much joy. She slotted straight into her foster family and home. She was loved so very much; if love could have kept her here, she would outlive us all.

Thank you to everyone, especially to those who helped her join our family and to her final forever family.

Fly high Gossip, you were loved very much.

The lovely lady Gossip is doing really well.

Thank you to everyone who donated to her wishlist; we did have to order a different bed for her as she likes to spread out when she sleeps, but have no fear the ones from her wishlist have already gone off to other foster’s who needed a bed as well so thank you.

She’s doing really well with not having accidents in the house, so hopefully the antibiotics are doing what they should be and her UTI was the cause of the accidents.

Gossip enjoys her food, and is fed a strict amount as we really want her weight down a little so the pressure is off her legs. Since her arrival she has gone from 31.7KGS to 31.1KGS which, although sounds a tiny amount, it will help her mobility hugely.

Speaking of legs, Gossip is very wobbly on her legs, which is understandable at her age. She moves herself around as well as she can, and even managed a little walk – albeit just down the driveway and back again, but these are old lady steps and whatever she wants to do, she does. She loves to move between beds and will mooch around the garden at her own pace. Gossip is having a daily dose of metacam to help with mobility related pain.

Gossip also has daily eye drops to help with her poorly eyes.

Gossip’s recent vet visit with medication came to £208.14. We order her Metacam with a prescription to make it a little cheaper, which comes out at about £20.00 a bottle.

Now, don’t be fooled, Gossip may be this cute little old lady, but she just loves a bin raid or to help with the recycling, she also enjoys a good grooming session.

Gossip has been adopted under palliative care; we like our hounds to have their forever families for however long that may be. So Gossip not only do you have your family but you have all your supporters who love you as well.

All in all Gossip is doing really well, considering her age, we are so grateful to everyone who has donated to her care, or asked after her; all your care, love and donations really are helping this lovely lady.

An update on Gossip.

Firstly a huge thank you to everyone for your outpouring of love for this golden lady. Your love and donations towards her care really have been mind blowing. Thank you isn’t enough at times like these.

Gossip went to the vet this morning for her check up. We are pleased to say that Gossip is doing OK,,,,,obviously she’s 13 years old, her own owner wasn’t in the best of health which we believe has had an impact on Gossip. We are certainly not judging as we know Gossip has been to her old vets for dental work and lumps and bumps in the past few months; it’s more maybe the day to day maintenance that an older lady needs that may have been missed a little.

So Gossip and the vets, she has a UTI, which will explain the accidents she has been having.

Gossip is also suffering with weakness to her back legs, and is showing signs of some pain there, so she has some pain relief. Thankfully they do not believe her eyes to be infected, but rather sore, so lubrication is needed for them which the vet has provided.

When at the vets her foster mum asked about the groomers as obviously she didn’t want Gossip to be stressed or in pain, but they said it was a good idea, especially as she needed her bottom and lady parts given a really good wash as she is attracting flies.

So off she went to the groomers, who adored her. We are so grateful to Brinsea Green Grooming, who after hearing Gossip’s story refused payment for her spa treatment.

Gossip is now back home, she’s mooching about, mainly looking for food, not too bothered about her foster sister and settling really well.

Gossip’s wish list has been updated with some items needed to maintain her cleanliness, if you are able to donate we would be grateful.

9th July 2026

Yesterday we received a call asking for our help for Gossip. Sadly her her. had passed away at home and there was no one who could help Gossip.

Gossip was home alone with family members going into her, thankfully only for a day, especially in his heat.

Gossip was believed to be 10 years old, but from her documents available to us, she has actually just turned 13 years old.

We are incredibly grateful to a foster and transport family who could collect Gossip yesterday, spent a night settling her down and caring for her, before taking her onto her permeant foster home today. Because of the urgency a temporary bed for the night was needed so a plan could be formed.

Lots of late night calls and we’re pleased to say Gossip is now with her foster family where she will be assessed and have all the treatment, care and love she needs.

Gossip has been looked after, her original vet spoke highly of both Gossip and her owner.

We know that she has recently had a dental, she has also had some lumps and bumps operated on, which all appear to be run of the mill, basset lumps and bumps.

She does have an eye infection, which her owner had sought vet attention for and we have the drops passed onto us. As you can see her eyes were a bit messy when she arrived last night, but with a clean and drops they are looking so much better.

Gossip has been her owners shadow for years, and the turmoil of losing her, especially in the circumstances have upset Gossip and she has been very shy the last 24 hours. We are hoping with a lot of love and care, she will come out of her shell and accept the love being showered on her.

Gossip has her vet appointment booked for tomorrow morning, and then a visit to a groomer who the foster family know very well and look after their older hound too.

Gossip does have a little wish list, 2 new beds would be perfect, one for the lounge and one for the kitchen and then she can decide which room she is more comfortable in. It’s all baby steps and on Gossip’s terms at the moment. Amazon.co.uk
