Abigail, or Abi as she is affectionately called is being a wonderful girl. She’s settled into pack life well. Of course a few teething problems with some of the other girls having their noses put out of joint, but all was settled within a couple of days.

She loves being with everyone, especially her foster mum. Enjoys her romps in the freedom field and out in the garden.

Her first few nights were a little unsettled, so she gets snuck upstairs to bed with a couple of the other hounds and sleeps like a log!

Although Abi has had her vaccinations, her dental has been put on hold. Sadly Abi has suffered a few seizures since she has been in foster. These are incredibly distressing to witness. It does Abi a while to settle after a seizure, but she does settle and gets back into her routine.

Because of these any medical treatment, dental and her spaying, has been put on hold until we can get to the bottom of the seizures.

Abi is currently on seizure medication and then there will be more blood tests to see if the medication is helping and where we go next with her.

Meanwhile, Abi is going through life quite happily, being led by her nose mainly!

If you would like to donate to Abi’s care, the link to do so is below.

25th September 2025

It’s raining Hounds this week! Another sad hound to join this week and take the number of hounds in our family to 710.

Please welcome 10 year old Abigail into the family. She arrived today and is under assessment, any enquiries regarding adoption will go unanswered.

We heard of Abigail being advertised for sale for a very small amount, her family agreed to surrender her to us instead to ensure she was safe and got all the care she needs.

We have been told that Abigail suffers with epilepsy, she is showing signs of “wobbles” and “flinches” which could indicate Lafora. Either way, tests and possible medication will be required.

We are also concerned about her eyes, as you can see from the photos, her eyes are quite bulgy (is that even a word?)

Abigail has a vet appointment tomorrow where she will have a full check up, her eyes and “wobbles” will be discussed.

Very little is known about this lovely girl; we do know that she has had some litters and in addition to the above her teeth are a bit yuk, which is resulting in her being even more slobbery than your standard Basset!

She is settling into foster well, she has a pack of bassets to welcome her, and she’s more than happy to put herself to bed in one of their crates!

We have a little wish list for Abigail below. Anything donated will stay with her throughout foster to her forever home, the bandanas are to try to keep her dry and her fur/skin healthy where she is dribbling a lot

Abigail will more than likely require tests on her eyes, and possibly a Lafora test, as well as spaying so if you would like to donate to Abigail’s care the link to do so is also below.
