We have a very sad, heartbreaking update regarding Pye, one of the four boys who recently came into our care.

You will recall Pye came into our care in February.  He was one of the oldest of the four who came in together.

Pye was taken poorly with a very upset tummy a week or so ago; his wonderful foster mum got him checked at the vets, after various checks and tests a scan was undertaken to ensure that he hadn’t eaten anything he shouldn’t have done.

Sadly the scan showed that Pye had a massive tumour on his spleen.  A decision was made with vet input that the kindest thing to do would be to help Pye across the bridge.

We had no option but to watch from the sidelines as his fantastic foster mum rushed back to the vets where she had just left Pye for his scan, to hold him whilst he crossed the bridge on the 7th March 2023.

There was nothing more we could do for the boy, if the tumour had burst Pye would have suffered terribly.

Please join us in sending love to Lynne, a long term foster mum, who is understandably devastated.  Pye was just begining to fight the ear and skin infections.  He was loving life and he couldn’t have asked for a better foster family who loved him dearly.   He was a very special boy.

All of your gifts ffor Pye have been re-gifted to other hounds in our care by Lynne.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
