#NOBASSETGETSFORGOTTEN

Name: BuzzBee

Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 13 months

Location:  Kent

BuzzBee joined the BRNGB family last July at 12 weeks old. A tiny, skinny little puppy, who has since grown into a large, smooshy, strapping young adolescent, currently 13 months old, and 27KG at last weigh in.  Here he is as a puppy!

BuzzBee is an energetic, happy, cheeky, loving, cuddly, quick to learn, loves everything and everyone, young basset. He can be nervous of new things, such as a shopping basket left on the pavement, or a wheely bin that shouldn’t be there, but with encouragement he puts his big boy pants on and will carry on with his walk.

BuzzBee has a high prey drive, although he spent his first 7 months living in the same house as a cat, they never actually came face to face inside, he will try to chase cats on walks, apart from the really scary one down the street who thinks he’s rambo. He chases birds in the fields, so we would say his prey drive is high and he wouldn’t be able to live with small furries.

BuzzBee was adopted last October and he lived with two other hounds. Sadly however, in the last 4 months BuzzBee started to resource guard the whole of the house from the other two hounds, things were getting so bad that sadly BuzzBee’s family surrendered him back to the rescue after seeking advice and working with behaviourists and trainers. This was for the benefit of all hounds, BuzzBee included who was getting very stressed with the situation.

As such BuzzBee needs to be the only dog in the home, but with doggy play mates he can meet up with to have his doggy interactions.  He loves other dogs outside of his home and is very determined to meet them and say hi!

BuzzBee has settled incredibly well into being an only hound and is happy not to have to share his home and family.

BuzzBee loves other dogs when he’s out walking, to the point he will lay down and wait for them to catch up. Once he’s said hello and it’s time to go his separate way he will pull to follow the other dog. BuzzBee is very strong on lead in these circumstances so further training will be required and we will support this as a rescue.  BuzzBee has been walked using a Halti in the past.

Consideration needs to be given as well that BuzzBee has recently been neutered, so for the next month or so, any bitches in season may well get his attention.  Full vet sign off has been given and BuzzBee is a healthy young lad who has no historical ailements.

BuzzBee when he was with his original family could be left up to 4 hours with the other two hounds in the house with him. He will initially bark but will settle. Since he has been in foster he has been left completely on his own for up to 2 hours. Again he will bark on you leaving but settles, and then gives you the biggest ever greeting when you come home and shows off his zoomie skills to welcome you home.  Work on him being left alone will need continued training.

BuzzBee travels well in the car, enjoys his treats of pigs ears and anything else he is offered. He is now eating well since having a home all to himself.

BuzzBee has slept through the night since around 5 months old on his own with free roam to the downstairs on the house (initially with the other hounds but now on his own with his family upstairs)

BuzzBee doesn’t really ask to go outside, but once he knows where outside is he will sit by the door when he needs to go out and is house trained.

He loves being outside in the garden and entertains himself playing with his toys, throwing balls around and zooming about chasing birds and bugs!

A nice secure garden is definately on BuzzBee’s wish list!

BuzzBee is not for the faint hearted! He is a fast walker, he is full of life, but will be a great addition to an active family who are looking for a basset hound who will happily lay on the sofa, snoring in their faces having cuddles, but who is equally happy to go for a hike for the day.

He does sleep at times!

You may need to guard your cups of tea!

BuzzBee certainly kows how to relax!

BuzzBee is not your typical lazy basset, he can be lazy but equally he needs and loves walks and adventures.   He is young and adaptable for the right family.

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

BuzzBee is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family will need to be able to travel to his foster home to meet him and his foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus BuzzBee’s foster family, so that all of his history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of his needs, demands and requirements.

BuzzBee comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

BuzzBee, as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.
