#NOBASSETGETSFORGOTTEN

Name: Beau

Sex:  Female

Age: 6

Location: Hampshire

Beau is a beautiful, fluffy 6 year old girl who joined BRNGB back in April 2025

Beau was originally in foster with a couple, sadly she had to move as she would chase their cats which was causing a lot of distress, not just to the cats but frustration to Beau as well.

Beau is currently in foster with a pack of dogs of different breeds, including bassets. She is now happy to interact with the other dogs; however this took some time. She really does lack confidence in new environments.

Beau suffers terribly with separation anxiety. This is being built on by her foster family, however Beau will need someone to be at home with her constantly. With consistent, positive training we do believe that Beau will, in time, be able to be left for short periods of time .In the early days she had to be in the same room as her foster family. Over time, she settled when they were in another room. A lot of time and consistency is needed to build Beau’s confidence in being left alone.

Beau can currently be left for 15 minutes, she will initially bark but settles down with the other dogs. This has to be built on and should not be expected in the first few days/weeks of her adoption.

Beau has no known food allergies and enjoys her meals. Beau initially would gobble her food down, as she has settled this has calmed down and she eats slowly and well.

Although Beau has not shown any signs of aggression, she will have a grumble if you ask her to get down off the human bed or if she is disturbed when she has a long lasting treat. She is happy to be lifted up into the car, and will jump in. She sleeps in her bed, initially in her first foster’s bedroom, her current foster she sleeps with the other dogs.

Beau loves her walks and in true Basset fashion is led by her nose. When meeting other dogs when out and about she tends to hang back and assess what’s what before joining in .Beau loves a flat basset when she wants to go in the other direction. Beau was not a fan of meeting new people when out and about initially but now enjoys the attention. She is more nervous of new people coming into the home.

Beau travels well in the car, she will pant a little but is happy on the back seat clipped in.

Beau is totally clean in the house and will bark at the door when she needs to go outside.

Although Beau has been fine around the foster’s grandchildren ranging from 6 – 26 years old, we do believe that Beau needs a calm home without young children, or the hustle and bustle of a family with children’s activities taking her family away from the home. As such we would say only children over 12 years old in the home for Beau.

Beau isn’t a fan of the vets. She hasn’t shown aggression, just doesn’t want to be there!

Beau is a cautious girl, who just wants to be loved and cuddled. She wants to please you .She’s happy to play with toys with her humans, and will amuse herself with her toys, but her favourite thing is being the centre of your world and having a big fluffy cuddle.

Beau needs an understanding home, who will give her the time and patience to overcome her anxieties. You will get love and fluffy cuddles back in abundance.

Beau’s needs

  • Someone who will be home all the time in the early days whilst Beau settles in
  • Someone who understands Separation Anxiety and is happy to continue with Beau’s positive training. BRNGB will of course be happy to assist in training methods.
  • Beau would suit a couple or individual who are home most of the time and are willing to be her whole world.
  • Beau would be happy to live with a calm dog, but time will be needed for Beau to gain her confidence with the resident dog. Once comfortable a relationship will no doubt form.
  • No small furries ie cats
  • Children over 12 years old
  • Someone who is happy for Beau to sleep in the same room as her

Beau’s Applications close at 8pm Sunday 22nd June 2025

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Beau is subject to an adoption fees and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including dogs will need to be able to travel to their foster home to meet her and her foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Beau’s foster family, so that all of their history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of their needs, demands and requirements.

Beau comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Beau, as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.
