Nelly has really proved to be a very very nervous gilr, however she adores her foster mum and is her total shadow.  With her foster mum she has super basset powers and she’s a little braver.

She’s had her final check at the vets, which scare her so much she wets herself, but she’s been brave and her foster mum has  been by her side the whole time.

We are so happy to announce that Nelly has been adopted by her foster family.  They fell in love with her and her them; to move her again now she has started to get confident just wouldn’t be right.

Congratulations Nelly, we look forward to watching you grow in confidence, and continue to wrap your foster mum round your paw.

Have a wonderful life!

Thank you to all of Nelly’s supporters, her transporters and of course her now family!

Be happy lovely girl, you are totally safe and loved now.

Update 31st March 2024

Well Nelly has eaten – whoohoooooo!  It’s all a bit of a game at the moment, as long as she is on her own, and it’s around 9pm, and she starts off with a tripe stick or similar she will eat a small amount.  She’s still not eating like a basset, but baby steps and she is certainly eating better than when she first arrived.

She will start a game of bitey face with the resident hounds, and loves to be near to her foster mum.

Nelly can be a little wary when the resident pack all decide its time to rumble, but she’s slowly joining in.  Today she had a visit to the freedom field for the first time and really enjoyed herself.

She’s been to the vets and has had blood tests to see if there was anything worrying which was stopping her eating and nothing came back so that was a relief.  She does need some dental work but we don’t think it’s that which is causing her any issues as she’ll happily schow down on hard treats!

She’s a lady who just needs time to come out of her shell and grown her confidence.  We know she’s in the right place to do so.

We’ve updated her photo gallery so you can see how she’s progressed from a scared, snappy girl on her transport to a happy girl having cuddles.

Update 17th March 2024

Nelly is settling into foster life; however she is not doing very well at all with eating.

She has been for a vet check where she was thoroughly checked.  Her appointment lasted over an hour as the vet wanted to check everything possible and take their time due to Nelly’s fear and nervousness.

She was so scared she wet herself in fear bless her heart.  Her wonderful foster mum was with her the whole time reassuring her and giving comfort.

Nelly’s teeth are in a bad way as are her ears; we’ll cross that bridge when needed, once her confidence is up a bit.

Now Nelly hasn’t really eaten since she’s been with us, apart from certain treats.  She did manage a little liver and some boiled chicken and white fish, but has since turned her nose up at this as well.

Her weight is very low at 22kg, she’s had blood tests which have shown that her phosphate level is low; we will be having further bloods done to see what is going on there.

To try to help build a little weight onto Nelly we have a wish list for some tasty treats for her, as well as some Oralade which will help keep her hydrated and get some goodness into her.  We need her to start eating so we will try anything.  Her foster mum is getting different dog food and meats to try to tempt her.  It’s not her teeth causing the issue as she’s happily chomp on dried treats; we will get to the bottom of this.

If you are able to donate to anything on the list the link is below and will be on our facebook pages as well

Please welcome Nelly to the BRNGB family.

We received a call on Friday asking if we could take her as her owner couldn’t continue looking after her, by Saturday she was with the BRNGB family.

She’s in a sad way bless her, and needs a lot of TLC, some confidence to build and some lumps and bumps to get checked out as well as the full vet check all hounds get when they join us.

We will update on Nelly’s journey over the next few weeks
