12th September 2024

The lovely Millie, such a sad girl when she arrived back in May.

Since then her confidence has grown; she’s been on her holidays; and yes!  She has found her forever home.

Her foster family spent so much time with her getting her confident and happy, letting her find her feet.  She has been spayed and signed off by the vet.  She does still have moments of fear, and reacts with a stand off and a growl.  We think she will always be a little nervous, but she’s happy and loves her family so very much.

So congratulations Millie, you found your perfect name and your perfect home.

Thank you to all of Millie’s donators, her transport team and of course her foster, now forever, family.

We look forward to hearing about your next adventures.

Who remembers Millie?  She joined us in May and was called Newie.

We know very little about Millie apart from she was with her previous family for about 6 months after her original owner passed away.

She had one litter when she was with the surrendering family, and has obviously had previous litters.

She was quite a sad, closed down girl when she arrived.  This is what her foster family say about her now:

Millie’s coat was terrible when she arrived, she had fleas and was very itchy and kept biting herself.  After a few weeks, good food, baths and flea treatment her coat has become clean and shiny, the itching and nibbling has stopped.

Her ears have been cleaned, her nails cut, her teeth may need some work in the future by way of cleaning but nothing has been said by the vet. She does not like her ears being cleaned, but it’s a battle we will take on and win for her own good.

Millie’s eyes are just beautiful, they can stop you dead in your tracks and break your heart.

She weighs about 23KG which is about right for her frame.

She loves going on walks, we don’t think she has been very socialised as she gets very excited when meeting people and will jump up to give anyone the full Millie treatment.  It’s all done with love but obviously some people don’t appreciate it!  Of course being a basset she loves a session of flat basset!

She is clean in the house but knows no basic commands so has clearly had little to no training in her life.  We’re putting this right now.

Millie can be very nervous, especially if there are raised voices, she will cower and try to hide herself.  There will be no more raised voices towards this beautiful girl.

She shows no signs of food aggression and is fed with her foster brother.

Millie did suffer after her spay for the first 24 hours or so.  She just slept the whole time, even falling asleep in her dinner, but the vet made frequent checks on her and she has made a wonderful, albeit a little slow recovery.
