The lovely Megan is looking for her forever home. Could this be you? Please read her blog in full and if you fit her needs we look forward to hearing from you.
Megan has had substantial dental work since arriving with us. She sadly had 12 teeth removed. She ended up having to go back to the vets for some more work as her stitches came away leaving a rather nasty hole which needed to be re-stitched. Throughout it all she was the wonderful happy girl she has proved herself to be. She is now fully signed off by her vet and is ready for her next adventure.
Here is what her foster mum has to say.
Megan arrived with me at the beginning of July. Megan soon settled in well, making friends with my resident Basset and Lab even though she had not been used to living with other dogs. Megan is a lovely happy hound who absolutely loves having people around. Megan loves the company of my dogs but is quite independent and happy to take herself off into the garden on her own where she loves sleeping under a particular bush in the garden in the shade over the summer when it has been particularly hot
Megan absolutely loves going out for walks, getting very excited when the leads appear, walking well on the lead ( I walk her on an extendable lead) and happy to meet other dogs and people. Megan travels well in the car, although is not keen to use the ramp as the boot in my car is very high so the ramp is too steep but she is happy for me to put her paws upon the bumper and wait to be utched in, I lift her out.
Megan celebrated her 9th birthday recently sharing cake and treats with my dogs. Megan does love sofa cuddles, she has no trouble jumping on the sofa – especially to use it as a look out post through the door!!.Although Megan is not supposed to be allowed upstairs she has no trouble with stairs!! running around like a loon from room to room so excited to be upstairs!
Megan does not show food aggression, she eats well (and particularly fast!!) she is fed once a day in the evening just before bed time, and after a trip into the garden settle well at night in the kitchen with my dogs.
Megan is house trained and clean in the house, asking to go out by going to the back door and sitting on the mat. Megan has been lovely house guest and have been happy to welcome visitors and supervise my builder who has been on site for several weeks. Megan does not travel light and comes with quite an amount of luggage to help her settle into her furever home.
Megan does have a high prey drive when it comes to wild rabbits so we are saying no small furries in the home.
Megan’s needs
- No small furries including cats
- Children over the age of 5
- An active family as Megan loves her walks.
- A nice, secure garden for Megan to continue to enjoy
- Someone who is home a lot in the early days whilst she settles in
- Not to be left for more than 4 hours at a time
- Can live with other resident dogs who are playful and happy to have a snuggle
- Megan’s blog closes Tuesday 9th September at 8pm
Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
Megan is subject to an adoption fees of £230.00 and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including dogs will need to be able to travel to their foster home to meet Megan and her foster family.
You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Megan’s foster family, so that all of her history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of her needs, demands and requirements.
Megan comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.
Megan, as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.
Thank you for reading Megan’s blog. Please share where you are able

Lovely lady Megan has been doing really well in foster.
She’s had her vet check and is a little chunky, only a touch so a gentle boot camp has started for her. It’s really important to keep their weight steady as we all know for their joints and backs.
Megan loves having her walks and will waddle along really happily.
Megan does need a dental and we’ve been quoted £950.00 for this. She needs it so she will be getting it done, the quotation is below.
Megan would also like to say thank you to you all who donatedto her wish list, doesnt she look happy with all her goodies.
If you would like to doante to Megan’s dental the link is below, or why not buy a raffle ticket, the cost of which will help all the hounds in our care, and you may be in with a chance of winning a mini break at The hideaway.

9 year old Megan joined the BRNGB family earlier this week. She is under assessment so please do not make any enquiries regarding her adoption, they will go unanswered.
Megan spent a couple of days in an emergency foster. Plans were being made for her surrender when sadly her owner passed away. Our deepest condolences to Megan’s family at this time. Megan moved to her permanent foster this weekend.
She’s a delightful lady; a little stiff on her legs; but enjoys having a little walk where she goes along like an angel.
She’s clean in the house, sleeps well and bumbles around with the resident hounds happily. She was happy to be around farm animals for a few days and took it all in her stride.
She really is a delight even in what must have been a confusing few days for her, apart from her snoring like an elephant!
Megan will be going to the vets this week. We know she is in need of a good nail trim but she will also have a full check up.
Megan does have a wish list which is below if you are able to donate. As always everything donate stays with Megan all the way to her forever home. If you would rather donate to her care, the link is also below, or buy a raffle ticket to win a 4 night stay at the fabulous Hideway at Halton.
Thank you to her emergency foster and her transport team.
