We are so pleased to announce that Honey has found her forever home.
Honey struggles with separation anxiety and misses having another dog in her life, but probably not bothered to have one in her life full time. What she struggles with the most is not having a human with her all the time. She such a lovely girl, but we knew that with her specific needs that she may be difficult to find a perfect match.
Then as fate would have it, her perfect match was stumbled upon during a local walk with her foster mum. A family who had previously adopted from us a couple of years ago, recognised Honey’s foster mum as she had previously completed their home check. They got chatting, as basset owners do and all things basset was talked about, including how they had recently lost a family basset, but still had the basset they had adopted from BRNGB. One thing led to another and it became apparent that Honey would fit in perfectly with the family, someone at home all the time, basset company when wanted but not actually living in the same home.
We of course carried out a further home check, had a couple of meet and greets, and it was agreed, they fit Honey’s needs perfectly.
So huge congratulations Honey, fate really has served you well

Honey is a lovely lady, although somewhat of a quandary the last few weeks.
The blood in her urine returned. We knew this was a issue for her and that if the antibiotics didn’t clear this up then it could be a deep rooted infection or a kidney function issue. WE agreed that any other treatment needed to go on hold and investigations into what was causing the blood need to be made.
As well as the blood Honey was showing signs of discomfort in her stomach which of course as positive.
So we gave the go ahead for blood tests, extensive testing on her urine together with an x-ray/ultrasound. We were given an estimate of £300-£400.00 by the vet.
The results of the tests showed that there were no issues with either Honey’s bladder or kidneys, although these were infection present still in her urine.
The X-Rays also showed that Honey has spondylitis in her spine in at least two places.
Honey is also suffering with an infection in her gums, but before teeth could be removed her bladder issues need to be cleared up. So the plan was further antibiotics for the bladder infection which appears to be a chronic infection, clear the UTI, carry out a further urine test once finished the medication, if clear get the infected teeth removed. Meanwhile pain relief for her spine, which has already made a difference.
As the antibiotics started to work, Honey started eating better.
Despite all this Honey is such a happy girl, going on walks, she walks so nicely trotting along, listening to her foster mum chatting to her, meeting the resident pony, saying hello to anyone who wants to make a fuss of her, playing with the foster grandchildren (although we think she’s happy when they go home so she can revert back to the basset natural habitat – yes bed and napping!)
She loves meeting other dogs when out on walks, even excitable ones she seems to calm down by being her calm self. Don’t be fooled though, if she’s had enough of a yappy, bouncy dog she makes it very clear she’s not impressed and mooches off happily.
We are pleased to confirm that the bladder infection seems to have been beaten, and Honey now has her dental appointment. She has two teeth which are very rotten and in need of removal.
Hopefully this will remove any lingering infection and then Honey will be ready to take on the world……at Honey’s pace anyway.

Lovely lady Honey has had her vet check and sadly she appears to be suffering from urine crystals. She has medication to try to resolve the issue, but if her urine tests haven’t changed in the next few days she will need to have a scan.
We do think however that the medication is working as she doesn’t seem to be in pain with her tummy/bladder area anymore, and she is managing to control her weeing, although she drinks an awful lot. We are monitoring all this with her foster mum and will keep you updated.
She loves going on walks and exploring and is being such a good girl.
Honey does need a few bits and pieces, her wish list is below if you are able to donate towards this. If you would rather donate to her care the link to do so is also below. As always everything will stay with Honey through to her adoption.

Please welcome Honey back into the BRNGB family.
Honey is under assessment and is not ready to be adopted, any enquiries regarding Honey will go unanswered.
Honey was originally surrendered into the BRNGB family way back at the start of 2017. Her previous foster family went on to adopt her and give her a fabulous life. Honey is 10 years old, 11 in the next few months (according to her records)
Sadly circumstances change; and Honey has been welcomed back into the family with open arms.
We offer full rescue back up for all BRNGB hounds, and this is why. We know things change, we know sometimes the Hounds need us a second or even a third time and every one will be welcomed back.
Honey arrived today and is settling into foster life. She will need a few things and a list will be made over the next few days. Honey will of course also have her vet check in the coming days.
If you would like to donate to Honey’s care the link to do so is below.
Thank you as always.
