Well, what can we say?  After a wonderful update about Gaston last week, we’ve got fabulous news that Gaston has found his forever home.

Although he still has areas that need working on, his foster family, who have worked so very hard with Gaston decided he had settled with them really well, they were making so much progress with him, and they loved him dearly.  We couldn’t say no when they asked if they could become Gaston’s forever family.

We’ve had really positive updates since he was adopted, and we are sure he will continue to make great progress with the family he has grown to trust and love so much.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and helped Gaston.  Even bigger thank you to his foster family for all the work they’ve done with Gaston, all the work to come, and loving this amazing boy despite his little ways!

Congratulations Gaston!

Gaston, spent the first few days in foster very busy marking what he decided was now his with lots of sneaky wees!

He settled into a routine quickly, and apart from an early morning howl he was sleeping through the night like the good boy he is!

His vet check up was brilliant.  He was happy enough to be examined and was deemed to have heathy heart and eyes.  We were told that he could suffer with his ears, but the vet was happy they weren’t inflamed and regular cleaning should keep on top of the usual basset ears.  A lovely healthy boy at 28.6KG.

Gaston is very polite and takes himself off to bed when the humans are eating; he’s even learning to ring the bells on the door when he needs to go outside which has minimised any accidents in doors.  He does need to be reminded frequently to go outside which is also helping to minimise accidents.

Gaston doesn’t like certain dogs approaching him when he’s enjoying his walks; he’s not aggressive but he will give the other dogs warnings to back off.  He’s a boy that does give signals such as a growl and he will stand up for himself if he’s not comfortable.  He loves his walks and once he’s pulled himself around to every sniff going, he settles down and enjoys a good romp.  His foster family are working on his reactions to dogs outside and he will give them his attention.

All in all Gaston is a delight, he loves belly rubs and cuddles.  He has lots of doggy extended family who he meets up with every now and then, and enjoyed meeting Belle (think about it….Gaston / Belle…)

Gaston had his castration operation in March and was back home recovering well, although demanded human cuddles even more than normal.

Gaston has even been on a basset waddle where he spent most of his time sniffing every butt he could find and play find the human who has the treats.

Gaston really is a lovely boy and is coming on in leaps and bounds, even sharing his toy broccoli and walrus!

Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported Gaston.  A huge thank you to his foster family who have worked so very hard, and continue to do so with Gaston.

Please welcome 4 year old Gaston to the BRNGB family.

Gaston is under assessment and is not ready to be adopted so please now enquiries, however polite, nice and sweet they are, they will not be answered.

We were contacted by one of our transport volunteers recently who knows Gaston’s family who has been helping them with coming to terms with the very difficult and heart-breaking decision to surrender this lovely boy.  They’ve tried so hard to keep him but some dynamics with another resident dog just wouldn’t work.  Between Gaston and the other dog they knew that, with the other dog’s issues it would Gaston that would be surrendered and they would continue to work hard with the other.  Not a decision anyone would ever want to make, but a decision that, for the safety and happiness for all in the home had to be made.

When we were contacted by Gaston’s family and after discussing with them we said, he’s definitely more Beauty than Beast and he’s more than welcome to Be Our Guest (see what we did there?  Happy now Sam?) and he arrived today!

He was a dream to transport, he loved our volunteers and needed to have either a paw or a nose on them.

He arrived with his foster family and welcomed lots of belly rubs and decided that the stuffed broccoli was his most favourite thing in the whole wide world.

Gaston does need a few bits and pieces so we have included his wish list below.  He will also need a vet check and to be neutered as soon as he is deemed fit and is settled.  If you would like to donate to his care the links to his wish list and donations are below.  As always anything donated on the wish list will remain with Gaston throughout foster to his forever home.

Thank you everyone who helped this boy and his family
