These two tenacious hounds arrived in our care in March. The extent of their neglect was clear to see by an uneducated eye, let alone a vet. Their first vet visit was heart breaking. Their lack of care and love for months, if not years, was evidenced by their medical needs. Yet, their hearts were pure, their love was strong….once they realised they were safe and would get every single thing they needed.
Fast forward through surgeries, infections, medication, numerous vet visits, time, compassion, security and they are just the most perfect hounds. Delilah still has a little way to go emotionally, and will always need skin care. Frank? Well he just needs to learn to stop throwing himself on the floor and tripping everyone up!
Frank and Delilah have cost the charity thousands of pounds; thousands that you wonderful folk donated to us. They have been the subject of a local newspaper, they have supporters up and down the country. People have been so generous in their support of them. A local resident to the foster family even stopped them in the street and donated a huge, brand new bed for them as they had heard all about them!
This is what you allow our charity to do. Help those that can’t help themselves. A massive, huge thank you to you all, whether it was a financial donation, a share of their story, love, a like…..you all make a difference.
Fast forward 5 months, of which is detailed below, we are so very pleased to say that Frank and Delilah have been adopted by their foster family.
They are so very settled, we are pleased that they do not have to move and learn to trust again. Their foster family have been superstars with them, it really is a happy ever after. (If you know their foster family please do not name them in any comments as they wish to stay anonymous).
Congratulations Frank and Delilah. It’s been 5 long months for you to get to your forever!
August 2025
It’s been a while since we had an update on Frank and Delilah. So what’s been going on in their world?
Frank is still the funny, floppy, trip hazard of a land seal he’s always been! His surgery has all healed wonderfully, his eyes, thank fully are so much better now they are clean and had all the medication they needed. We are so grateful he doesn’t have to go through any surgery. Some hounds can avoid this, some are not so lucky.
Delilah has had a struggle to get her last bout of skin infections under control. Medication, careful bathing with malaseb, and a professional groom, has got this back under control. It was so bad, her foster family could smell her as soon as she walked into a room. Poor girl but this is now, again, under control.
Delilah was a real concern for some time. We all thought that Frank would be the one with on going issues. Instead it was this lovely girl.
As for her urine issues, after countless tests, antibiotics and specialist food this seems to have overcome as well.
A phantom pregnancy and season later, Delilah is now healthy enough to be spayed which is booked in this week; this has been delayed several times to ensure she is healthy enough.
Emotionally and medically she has taken a lot longer than Frank to settle and come into her own
Although very much still bonded, they are happy to spend time apart from each other, are walked separately, and have made friends with other resident dogs and spend time with them instead.
It’s been a long 5 and a half months for this wonderful duo to overcome their past. The future is most definitely bright for them.
Thank you everyone who has supported these two wonderful hounds. From their incredibly sad, neglected condition to hounds that are secure, happy and healthy. We are so proud of you Frank and Delilah! Thank you to you all that made this happen for them.

It’s Delilah’s birthday on the 1st June – Happy early Birthday little girl.
These hounds have captured your hearts, as well as ours.
Frank is still a drama lama, and a huge tripping hazard, you stop moving and you can guarantee he’s going to be laid on your feet within seconds!
Delilah’s months course of antibiotics has finished and a further urine sample has been taken to the vets. We’re hopeful that this has cleared up and she is deemed to be fit and healthy. She still needs spaying but that can’t happen until we know she is healthy enough.
They have both had a skin allergy flare up, this can happen at the slightest change in the seasons, or atmosphere. They both require treatments, and this has been increased to get on top of this current flare up.
They are both very special hounds, as are all of them.

Well, when these two very sad hounds came into our care, we honestly believed it would be Frank who would be the biggest concern medically.
As you’ll remember, or read below, when Frank arrived his testicles were literally dragging the ground, he was suffering with an inguinal hernia, and had cancerous tumours within his scrotum. His castration was successful in righting the hernia, removing all cancer and of course all that stretched skin.
There was discussion regarding entropion surgery with Frank; we are pleased to say that the vets are happy this is not needed now. As Frank has put on some much needed weight (we know he looks like a big lad but for his build he actually was a little underweight) his skin has thankfully filled out a bit and has lifted; this and the eye treatments together with the love and care that he deserves, and living in a clean, sanitary home seems to have settled his eyes.
Frank will be having his dental surgery later this week, so we will be crossing our fingers, paws and toes that no further surgery is required for this lovely, drama lama, land seal who spends his life flopped at your feet on his back demanding attention!
Sadly however this is not the same story for Delilah.
When she arrived she had a significant amount of blood in her urine. Tests showed UTI’s which were treated. Delilah then had her season. Upon coming out of her season, the blood was back in her urine. Further tests showed infection, so more treatment. The blood then started passing as clots and it was clear Delilah was not happy or feeling very well.
Delilah had a scan which showed there was severe thickening of the lining of her bladder, the white mass shown in the picture below being up to 2cm thick. After further investigation the vet advised that her bladder is what can only be described as a gloopy soup of infection, blood clots and crystals. Her bladder lining it self is damaged. This will happen after years of infections being left untreated, crystals forming then as she passes urine, the crystals rip at the lining of the bladder and urinary tract. The result being clots of blood will pass when she has a wee. She is also in a massive amount of pain.
Delilah’s currently on 3 weeks worth of antibiotics and has had more urine samples taken which will be reviewed. She has also lost a huge amount of weight, although was not at the correct weight when she arrived.
Delilah is also now on specialist food and we are hopeful that we can undo all the damage that has been done over the years.
So far, we have spent in the region of £4000.00, if you could donate a little to their care please do:-

Every penny really will help these two mistreated hounds.
In the meantime, we will keep them both happy, loved and cared for, something they clearly haven’t had for some time.
