Well, Belle has proved to be a wonderful girl. She’s still wary, she still won’t walk further than the end of the road, but she loves the things that she is confident about; those being:-
– Waking up her foster mum in the middle of the night for a cuddle;
– Going to the freedom field with friends;
– Going to the Allotment to hang out with her friends;
– Visiting Nanny and Grandad;
– Having lap cuddles;
– Having a sulk because she had to go to the vets;
– Rolling in something gross as punishment!
Belle has been given a complete sign off from the vets, she’s had her nails cut under sedation as that is one of her scary things!
She will always be on medication for fits, one ear will need continued work, but she really is a wonderful girl who is growing in confidence daily, thanks to her foster mum………who is now officially HER MUM
Yes, Belle’s foster mum decided, despite her diva ways, she wasn’t going anywhere and Belle was officially adopted over the weekend.
We are so pleased as Belle really is settled where she is, and being such a nervous girl, to move her would have been heartbreaking all around.
Belle’s mum has previously adopted from us, a very very similar girl with nerves, who sadly crossed the bridge; so we just knew she would be the right foster home for Belle, and then we kept everything crossed that she would be made official when the time came.
Congratulations Belle, we couldn’t be happier for you.
Thank you to Belle’s foster family, her supporters and volunteers. you have made so much difference to this hound.
Update:-
Belle arrived into the BRNGB family, the 615th hound, at the end of October.
A very nervous girl, but has already shown her courage…..and of course love of food!
We look forward to watching her thrive and grow in confidence whilst in foster.
Update
Belle has been doing amazingly. After a stand off with the transporter who was taking her to her foster home, which lasted a good few hours, cups of tea and magazines, once Belle decided to get out of the car she has settled really well.
Belle suffers greatly with anxiety; we were told she was scared of men, water, other dogs and the world in general. Now although she’s not hop skipping and jumping off down the road on walks (she prefers to just have a sniff of the verge and go back home) she is doing so well.
Her foster family are being so patient with her; she’s met the neighbours, the neighbours dogs, extended foster family and the vet! The vet even managed to trim her dew claws without any sedation. She goes to a secure doggy field and has met some other dogs who she has been quite happy to meet.
Belle does suffer with epilepsy so we are very cautious with her, we don’t want her too stressed or upset as that could trigger a fit, which we are pleased to report has not happened since she has been in our care.
All in all she is finding her paws in the world, one tiny step at a time……and adores cuddles
