Gunther has really come on in leaps and bounds since his move to the Big Smoke!
He’s had a few training sessions to iron out some issues he had out walking, and in the home. His foster family are and continue to work really hard with him to ensure everyone lives in harmony and Gunther is relaxed and happy.
He loves being out and about, but loves ruling the roost more at home.
Gunther has settled in so very well and found his way with his foster family, and them with him that we are so very happy to announce they have asked to adopt Gunther. Of course we said yes, to move him from where he has landed on his paws, where he is happy and understood would have been cruel.
So please join us to congratulate Gunther on finding his forever. From a boy from kennels with no background, no information, no family to claim him, to a Gent in the City!
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen, his previous foster family, his supporters and donators, and of course his family for working so hard with him.

Gunther started his foster journey in Somerset with a foster family and some resident Hounds. He was such a good boy and really tried his best, he even had a behaviourist help him. However, he just wasn’t happy sharing his space and was begining to show signs that were potentially leading to an accident.
His original foster family were amazing with him; they would listen to his warnings; respect his space and worked hard with the behaviourist to understand Gunther.
Sadly, with his original foster family the decision was made that Gunther needed a quieter home, one where he could be an only dog. You’ll remember that Gunther came to us with zero information, so this original assessment of him was like gold. We knew from his first foster family what he needed to be a happy, safe boy.
Fast forward to how he is now; he’s been with his new foster family for a few weeks now. He’s settled into London life like a pro. He is loving all the attention he gets as an only dog at home, and is happy to be out and about and meeting other people. He’s had such adventures, train rides and adult family visiting. His new foster family even cancelled some family coming to visit as they have young children and didn’t want Gunther to be stressed.
Gunther has really struggled in the recent heat; today he went to a groomer and, although it’s sad to see his flowing locks cut short, he so needed it, he really couldn’t cope with the heat. It will grow back and we still think he’s totally stunning! The groomer even said he was the best boy they’ve ever had the pleasure in grooming, not a peep out of him!
Gunther’s original foster family should be really proud of how they helped this boy who had no history; and his new foster family are working wonders as well in making him feel safe, letting him be….well Gunther.
Thank you to everyone who has donated towards Gunther’s care, this has gone towards his behaviourist bill and vet check ups.

We now know that Gunther turned 4 years old just before he arrived in our care.
As you know we know very little about him; however being in foster and being assessed has taught us a lot about him.
He’s a nervous boy; he’s very jumpy at loud noises; he will flinch and cower at sudden movement. He has the funniest bark that sounds like his voice is breaking; he loves his walks; he loves going to work with his foster mum; and can be very cuddly.
He’s also showing some guarding issues, and will become growly at times when he’s fearful.
We have arranged a behaviourist to work with Gunther so we can make sure we are doing everything we can to help him settle and understand the world he is living in. The cost of this will be £180.00 for four sessions. We are sure that these sessions will help him settle and help us understand him better so we can be sure we find the right family for him.
He’s such a wonderful boy and we are grateful for his foster family to be working so hard with him.

Please give a big BRNGB welcome to Gunther who joined the family today. The 20th hound of the year, number 696 since the charity began
Gunther is under assessment, any enquiries will go unanswered.
We have very little information regarding Gunther after we were contacted by a kennel yesterday who were looking for a foster based rescue for him.
After rallying the troops are are so pleased to say Gunther was collected today and is safely in foster.
He’s being a good boy, has started to join in with games with the resident hounds, has eaten and decided on his favourite human in the house already.
He’s a handsome hairy boy
