Bolo and Bruce have now been re-assessed following their return to foster.
They are now ready to again, look for their forever home.
Please do read all of their page as their information is very important to find them their forever home.
They are both lovely boys, they rely on each other a lot, are both sensitive in their own ways.
They both need their diet and skin maintained – this is at home maintenance which will be explained to you.
Although Bolo will try to convince you he is not active, both LOVE their walks and games of football, they are very active and enjoy and thrive on being out and about before a good long basset nap!
Please read their blog below in full before applying.

With heavy hearts, we announce that Bolo and Bruce have returned to our care. Whilst we are saddened that things didn’t work out as planed, we’re grateful they are safe and back where we can ensure they’re loved and supported.
Sometimes placements don’t work out despite everyone’s best intentions.
Our priority has always been and always will be their wellbeing, and we’re thankful they are safe with us back with their foster mum.
The boys will be re-assessed over the coming weeks and we will support their foster family as always during this process.
They have settled back in, as if they never left, have enjoyed a good game of football and had a good snooze.
Welcome back Bolo and Bruce, onwards and upwards.

22nd January 2026
As you will recall Bolo and Bruce were ready for their forever home just before Christmas, and although there were some lovely applications for them, they just weren’t right for different reasons.
So now the Christmas fun is over with, during which they had a wonderful time and were spoilt rotten, it’s time for these wonderful boys to find their forever homes.
They really are very special, please do read their blog below and enjoy the recent photos and videos of them. They have discovered a love of football!
The main thing to take away from their blog is
They are very bonded, they will live with other bassets if they all fit
They need specific food to help with their skin care/weight
Skin care will be an ongoing thing but is not over complex or vet treatment, it’s maintenance
Although Bolo will convince you he’s happy on the sofa so continue on without him, they both love being out and about.
Please read their blog and consider if you are their forever home, blog below the new photos and videos

The Important Bit – their Blog
Bolo and Bruce are two adorable chunky brothers who are very much a bonded pair and rely on each other a lot.
They are happy in their own company but also love being with my other three bassets, they can be left for short periods of time and give you a big welcome when you return bringing you a toy. They have free run of the house and have never bothered going upstairs quite happy to wonder around downstairs.
They both love their walks and just love running in a freedom field even more now they can see where they’re going.
Bolo is a typical basset and has a good bark on him when excited at meal times and seeing his collar and lead come out.
Bolo is a quick eater whilst Bruce likes to take his time, they are both on grain free HA food which has really helped with the skin problems they arrived with; they love carrots, green beans and broccoli, and of course a sneaky piece of cheese .
Neither are bothered by noise or fireworks. They travel well in the car will use a ramp or have a bum lift in.
Ear cleaning is not a problem they both seem to enjoy it.
Neither are bothered with cats or small furries when out and about.
Bruce is the quieter of the two who just loves to watch you and he loves a cuddle on the sofa. He can hear a wrapper or fridge door opening and soon gets there with such a look that melts your heart.
Both are good at going out for toileting, even in the rain.
Bruce is also the boss and will tell Bolo off which Bolo doesn’t mind.
They have both been through extensive facelift surgery to improve their sight and be pain free, they coped remarkably well with it all, and has made such a big difference to them. They did have skin problems which is now resolved with regular skin care and a change of diet helping massively. We would recommend that their food is continued as it has been whilst in foster.
Both are really good at going in the vets but Bolo is not too keen on having all his nails done at the same time. They both have such lovely personalities and for their size they are so gentle.
Bolo and Bruce’s foster family have put so much love, care and dedication into the recovery of these two amazing boys following their surgery. They have made the heart wrenching decision for the boys to be adopted so they can continue to foster for us.
Both boys have been deemed healthy from their neutering and face surgeries and fully healed by the vets, who are incredibly happy with their surgery and recovery.

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

16th October 2025
You will recall the lovely Bolo had a facelift a while back. His brother Bruce was also booked in to have the same surgery, but we wanted the surgery to be done at different times so they both had the after care they both needed.
Bolo’s surgery was more urgent so he had his first and has made a fabulous recovery. He’s loving his walks, seeing the world differently, and boy has he found his bark! He loves to tell the world when he’s happy.
Both boys have now been natured, they had a good ear clean, anal glands done and nails cut at the same time
Bruce had his surgery done on Tuesday 14th October. This had been delayed by the vets due to an emergency and then an infection risk from a previous patient. The photos are quite nasty, so be warned.
Bruce’s surgery, although looks very nasty, and we are sure that it doesn’t feel great, these are some of the best “facelifts” we have seen within the rescue.
The surgery both boys have had, looks horrendous, but was needed to ensure they have a long and happy life with full sight. Without the surgery they were both at risk of suffering with irreparable damage to their eyes.
The specialist has done wonderfully with both boys and we’re looking forward to Bruce making a full recovery. A huge thank you to the vets as well for giving a discount to the rescue for both of the facelifts.
The estimate for Bruce’s surgery is below together with his post op photos. The video is from recently before his surgery.
If you are able to donate to Bruce’s surgery he would be very grateful.
Thank you for all of your support with these two amazing boys. A huge well done and thank you to their foster family who have done wonderfully looking after them throughout all of the turmoil of the surgery.

25th August 2025
A long overdue update on Bolo and Bruce. As some of you will know from our Fundraising page (Basset Rescue Network of GB Fundraising) Bolo underwent some incredibly invasive surgery to save his eyesight.
Poor Bolo spent most of his life bumping into things, falling off steps and walking into walls because he just could not see. He’s a stunning, wrinkly lad, but sadly those stunning wrinkles that some people crave, were damaging his eye sight.
Within days of having his surgery Bolo was up and about without a whimper and was enjoying seeing everything clearly. He enjoyed some nice steady walks in the early days and is completely unphased by what has happened to him.
We are eternally grateful for Bolo’s vet who made sure that he kept some of his wrinkles and also kept the shape of his eyes by placing some magic little stitches.
Bolo’s stitches are all but out now, as you can see from the photos he is doing so incredibly well. If that was one of us humans we’d still be in our beds moaning about it! His vet is so happy with him and the surgery has worked, his eyes are so much clearer and healthier now. He does have drops every now and then which we’re sure will be stopped in time.

21st June 2025
Today we welcomed in our 700th Hound and he brought his brother to be the 701st!
In total so far this year that’s 25 hounds to join BRNGB, so please join us in welcoming Bolo and Bruce. Named after their owner’s favourite film “Enter the Dragon”.
Bolo and Bruce are under assessment and are not ready to be adopted. Any enquiries regarding them will go unanswered.
Bruce and Bolo are very much bonded siblings, and are 6 years old. They have been welcomed into the home by their foster siblings, some being BRNGB Hounds.
Both suffer terribly from skin and allergies. They have arrived with a lot of medication for their skin, which we know from past hounds can be a long term battle. They will be taken for a vet check soon and a review of all their medications and see if anything needs tweaking.
They will need frequent and regular bathing to get their skin under control.
Both are entire and will be neutered when they are deemed fit.
Bruce, the Tri boy, has been labelled the “trouble maker” and is mischievous, not missing a trick. He will happily eat any sock, or item of underwear, having to have surgery in the past.
He has had a tumour removed from his leg previously and we’re pleased to hear that he was given the all clear.
Bolo, the red and white boy, apparently likes to greet you in the morning rolling around and having a chat!
They have settled in really well and are happily nosey around the garden, testing out the furniture inside and out and being very good boys.
They are both very much bonded, and get distressed when separated. They will of course stay together.
They do need a few bits and pieces so a wish list is below. We have added some veggie treats as we’re not sure about their allergies at the moment. If you would rather donate to their vet care the link to do so is also below, as well as a link to this month’s fundraiser (all funds raised go towards hounds like Bolo and Bruce).
We will update their journey as it progresses.
Thank you as always to their transporters, and of course for your support
Their wish list, donation link, and hamper link as well as photos and a video of these stunning lads can be found here
