On the 22nd March 2014 Sam, Sam and Louise used Snoopy’s surrender and transport collection as an excuse for a road trip to Cornwall.

Snoopy was BRNGB’s 16th Hound, arriving with us at 4 years old.

Ryan drove whist we chatted. Upon collection of Miss Snoopy, we headed to the nearest beach for traditional Cornish pasties.

Snoopy stayed with Sam Savage as a foster for 6 months but we realised she needed to be an only dog so Darren and Susie tentatively agreed to foster as they had just lost their basset Ellie and weren’t sure they were ready to adopt.

Within weeks she was officially theirs and they agreed that whilst they had Snoopy, she must remain an only dog.

Snoopy became their world and was loved beyond words by them and Susie’s family back in Ireland, they would regularly face time so they could speak to and catch a glimpse of Snoopy girl.

Sadly, after a few weeks of being under the weather, snoopy was diagnosed with liver disease in December 2023, Darren and Susie agreed that they would let Snoopy live her best life for what time was left,. Unfortunately on 29th December 2023, our special little Snoopy passed away in her mums arms.

We at the charity are absolutely heartbroken for Darren and Susie, Snoopy was a wonderful girl but not without her quirks, she is the reason for our policy of never rehoming to families with children under 5 and the reason Sam will only ever foster for very short periods..

She has broken so many hearts in her passing. All our love goes to Darren, Susie and Snoopy’s extended family, here and in Dublin

Here’s what Snoopy’s heartbroken family wanted to add about Snoopy

She was a character. We had another Basset called Ellie and it‘s her anniversary the day, we put Snoopy to sleep. I done all the Christmas parties with Snoopy, did a few home checks and collecting a few hounds to transport which I loved but just so heartbreaking.

We’ve never felt so down over a dog. Snoopy loved everyone. She loved chasing squirrels and playing with the hose pipe in summer.

She was great dog never gave us any problems never poorly.

She was one in a million

You touched many hearts Snoopy, fly high beautiful girl.
