Who remembers Sassy Sissy who joined our family recently as one of the triplets?
Sissy is only 4 years old and has been a breeding machine sadly. She’s a lovely happy, cheeky, full of sass girl, but we really do need to help her with her *ahem* boobs!
Due to over breeding, as you can see below her under-carriage is dragging the floor. They are getting sore, dirty and generally in the way of Sissy when she’s trying to just enjoy life as a basset instead of a machine to pop out puppies. Her poor body has been through so much.
She’s even managed to invent a new way of walking so they swing out to the side rather than her stand on them.
This is what the vet says
– Sissy needs to be spayed which based on her timings this can be done early December.
– Consideration needs to be given for a part mammary strip (mastectomy – like we would do f she had mammary cancer). I would propose to remove mammary glands 3, 4 and 5 on the left side (it looks like she has had 4 and 5 removed from the right side when she had a nasty mastitis in the past). – So she’s already lost some of her glands.
Whilst I have done this for cancer many times, I have to admit that I’ve never had to do it for glands that are dragging on the ground.
If we were to go ahead with the spay and the mammary gland removal together then the estimated cost would be £1270
Sissy’s teeth are also in a terrible state for one so young. They are black and rotting causing her discomfort and need work.
– Dental with radiographs and extractions. Sissy’s teeth have an estimated cost of £950 (including 10% contingency)
All in all Sissy’s bill is going to be in the region of £2,200.00. This is on top of her foster brother’s bill which is in the region of £2700.00! (more to follow on Copper!)
We are sure you will agree, this surgery is required so she can live a happy, comfortable life without falling over her self.
This isn’t normal! This is caused by over breeding, this is caused by human’s love of money. So we are hoping that you will help us raise the funds for Sissy’s surgery. She is booked in for December 6th, so we hope to raise most if not all of the funds by then.
