At BRNGB we welcome hounds of all sizes, shapes and ages. Most are pure bassets, some are Bagels, some are basset crosses.
We pride ourselves on the fact that should you need to surrender your hound, they will not only become part of the BRNGB family, but part of their foster family.
All hounds will be placed into foster homes that fit their needs. Needs to be an only hound, no problem. Needs to be with a resident playful hound, no problem. Needs a home without visitors, no problem. Needs a home without men/women, no problem. Can live with cats, sheep, chickens, ducks, rabbits and pigs, no problem.
Please note your resident hounds must be neutered, we need people who are at home most of the time, and no small children
We will only place a hound in a home that fits their needs. They are assessed, they receive all treatment they require, then we find them their perfect home.
Here’s some of our foster hounds in thier foster homes
If you think you could be a foster, we would love to hear from you. Please read below to see what it entails. If you are interested, please completed a foster application form and one of the team will call you.
Whilst it can be a truly rewarding job and can fill you full of joy when you see your foster hound find it’s forever home it is important to understand that with fostering comes a certain level of expectation from us… fostering is not just babysitting a hound until it’s new home comes along, fostering involves taking in a hound with an unknown or chequered past and observing that hound, working with it, trying to understand and help it.
We need constant feedback from you regarding any incidents, observations or worries that crop up.. an uncontactable foster home is no use to us or the hound.
We need you to be active on either Facebook messenger or WhatsApp as each foster dog has its own dedicated chat where you can access all members of the BRNGB team any time night or day, there is always someone around for advice or questions.
You will be expected to take your foster dog to the vet for a preliminary check up once you feel the dog is settled enough to cope with it.
You will be required within the first week to carry out an observational assessment on your foster dog, stating the dogs general condition.
You will be required to supply food for your foster dog (unless a special diet is required) You will be expected to check your foster chat at least once a day.
We promise to provide a supportive environment via fb messenger or WhatsApp or phone where you can come to us with any problems or concerns..
We will reimburse any costs associated with your foster dog.. leads, collars, beds, veterinary treatment.
We cannot however, promise to move your foster dog at a moments notice. If there are concerns we will do everything we can to provide an alternative foster home.
Fostering is not something to be taken lightly. It is a heart wrenching difficult job so please don’t apply unless you are prepared to work with us, communicate with us and listen to the needs of the dog.
Not all Bassets are the same.. every single dog has a curveball they are waiting to throw, coping with and managing that curveball is what make a fosterer special.
Fostering is not a one way street, in return you will have the joy of helping a hound in need, be part of our foster family and will get the most amazing feeling of joy from what you are doing to save a hound.
Not all fosters move to new families after their assessment, if the foster family just cannot give up that hound then we will support such an adoption,.
