Meet Lady Penny, a lovely, loving, slightly larger lady who loves nothing more than having her person and a part time play mate
Penny is believed to be 5 years old, she had an ear injury when she arrived with us following a bust up with a resident dog, as such we believe she needs to be an only dog in the house, but she would welcome a regular play mate to zoom around with. For a slightly larger lady she is very agile.
Penny is happy to get up and down on the sofa or bed, she will happily jump into the car for a drive for a walk, however she’s not too sure about having her back end lifted up.
She loves her walks and is good on lead and has reasonable recall when off lead (as reasonable as a basset has!)
She is currently living with 2 bassets, however she has shown some jealously towards foster momma showing affection to her own hounds so we believe Penny would be best as an only dog; but with a regular play mate for some zoomies and bitey face sessions.
She has met a few children and seems comfortable around them, but we do not adopt to families with under 5 year olds.
She will be barky at dogs and strangers initially when she meets them but settles quickly.
We do not believe Penny can be rehomed with small furies including cats as she has chased these when seen out on walks.
Penny is nervous of loud noises, and will react in a nervous manner and flat basset so a nice quiet home would be ideal.
Penny has no food aggression and is happy to give things up.
Penny has been fine at the vets and is a very loving, cuddly girl who loves a snuggle.
Penny will sit when asked to and is clean in the house, once shown where the outside is she will sit by the door when she needs out.
Penny still needs to shed a little weight, but is overall a very happy loving girl who is happy having cuddles, or playing zomies, or with hard or soft toys.
Penny has been left up to 4 1/2 hours with free roam of her foster’s home quite happily.
Penny needs someone who is at home more often than not and prepared to put in the time to help her settle and learn further
- Someone who is willing to work with Penny and be patient whilst she gets to know you and her new home
- A small furry pet free home, although Penny would welcome regular play dates
- Penny loves a walk, and needs physical and mental stimulation, but needs someone who will build her confidence when meeting strangers and other dogs, again we are happy to provide assistance.
- Patience and time to spend with Penny in the crucial first few weeks as she adapts
- We do not adopt to households with children under the age of 5.
- Applications close on the 7th August 2022 at 8pm.
Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
Penny is subject to an adoption fee and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family will need to be able to travel to his foster home to meet him and her foster family.
You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Penny’s foster family, so that all of her history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of her needs and requirements.
Penny comes with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.
Penny as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.
