Where we celebrate BRNGB of the past who have gone on to live their best lives as adopted hound - this weeks spotlight is Cooper!
Hi, my name is Cooper, I am one of the earlier bassets to be rehomed through BRNGB. I joined my forever family in November 2013 when I was 8 months old. I was a bit of a handful! My mum and dad had owned beagles before but not a basset – I soon introduced them to my bassety ways!
I had three fur siblings – two beagles Lizzie and Dylan, and a spaniel called Pip.
Mum was very proud that the beagles were good dogs and came back when they were supposed to, she thought she'd be able to teach me to do the same but instead I taught Dylan how much fun it was to run away!
In 2018 Mum had a tricky year when she got ill, then her dad died and then Lizzie beagle died. She was very sad and thought that being a foster for BRNGB would be a good thing to do. Within a very short time of applying she got a call to see if she could foster a little basset in Lancashire. In September 2018 she went and picked up Zoey who came to live with us. Mum was a rubbish foster and Zoey stayed ( she's not a proper basset like me, she's part beagle!)
It's 2024 now and I am just over 11 years old. I spend more time sleeping now, I don't run very far anymore as I have arthritis, although I did give dad a run for his money the other week when there were 5 hares in the field!
There is just me and Zoey now at home, but life is still pretty good!
I hope you enjoyed my story
Cooper xx
