The Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain #NOBASSETGETSFORGOTTEN  Name: Lottie Sex: Female Age: 6 Location: Lincolnshire Lottie Long Dog - The Perfect Companion Lottie joined the BRNGB family at the end of July to start her foster assessment. Her original family had her from a puppy and she lived around cats until she came to us. She was an only dog in her original home in the later days, originally living with a Terrier, then living alone when the Terrier passed. Lottie was described as being very laid back, happy and chilled, which she really is. Lottie has been in foster with a small pack of bassets, chickens, ducks, sheep and goats. Outside the house there have been no issues and s...

Please do not make any enquiries about their adoption as they will go unanswered at thie time. Massive thank you to their transport team who assisted on their arrival today. They are very much bonded, sharing a bed, happy to be around each other at food times and snuggling down together. They have been on a little walk, are enjoying playing with their new toys that their foster family got ready for their arrival and are being really fun and happy. They will undergo a vet check; Bear will need neutering when the time is right. As ...

Please welcome Goldie Oldie Peggy - update

22nd September 2024  We have the most wonderful update on lovely Peggy.   Following on from her arrival (see below) and initial vet check, Peggy had a blood and urine test to see what was, if anything happening within.  We are so please to report that no ailments were found......yes zero.  She's not in perfect health, but there are no concerns.  This is what the vet said:- Liver and kidneys good no sign of any infection. Small crystals in urine but not a concern as drinking plenty  Slightly anaemic  Blood Pressure a wee bit high This is amazing news for a hound of her years! So Peggy is on some pain medication as obviously, at her age, her jo...

Please welcome Margo

Please welcome 3 year old Margo into the BRNGB family. Margo arrived yesterday. She's had a few homes in her short life, the last one for only a short time. She was surrendered into our care when she started having fights with a resident dog. As you can see she's settled in well already with BRNGB Yoshi (who remembers him?) It's very early days yet so we will update on how Margo gets on once she's had her vet check. She doesn't need a wish list but if you would like to donate to her care, or buy a raffle ticket the links to do so are below. Please welcome Alfie

Please give a big BRNGB welcome to Alfie.  We were contacted this afternoon by a dog warden who had been contacted by the police after finding Alfie in his home with his owner who had sadly passed away.  The warden asked if we were able to collect Alfie rather than him to go to kennels as the owners family were unable to take him.  We of course were willing to assist and within a couple of hours one of our fabulous transport angels was on route to meet the police at the house and collect Alfie.  The collection had been arranged with the blessing of Alfie's owner's family. We don't know how long Alfie had been on his own, the Police had been going in and feeding him a...

Please welcome Goldie.......

Goldie has joined the BRNGB family and we are desperate to find him a new home to call his own.  Goldie was found lurking in a supporters garage, safely tucked away in a box.  He doesn't ask for much, he's a good lad, although weighs a bit! Goldie has been bred from aluminium and finished in an antique bronze finish.  He is a perfect 58 cm long, and 53 cm tall and would just love to have his own very special spot in your garden.  People have been known to pay £335 for a Goldie, but you could be the proud owner of this Goldie, currently in foster with Sally who has asked us to find his forever home, for just £10.00!  Yes, £10.00 would give you a number ...

Bolt - Applications closed

The Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain #NOBASSETGETSFORGOTTEN  Name: Bolt  Sex: Male  Age: 10  Location: Kent  Do not be put off by Bolt's age, he's a wonderful older gent who is a joy to be around, loves his food and walks as well as play time.  Bolt came to us in July 2024 after his owner, who had him from a puppy, was unable to continue caring for him.   Bolt used to live with a Jack Russell, and has been in foster with 3 other bassets and a German Shepherd.  He's happy within a pack, but we think he would be happy as a companion for another older basset as sometimes the pack, who are younger than him, can get a bit overwhelming for hi...

Please welcome Henry

Please give 5 year old Henry a big BRNGB welcome! Henry joined us yesterday after being with his family since a young puppy.  Sadly his owner was unable to continue looking after him so they made the sad decision to surrender him into our care.  He's proving to be a nice boy; we were told he is not a happy traveller but was a transport dream, being such a good boy.  Our wonderful transporter who collected him and took him to foster said he was one, if not the best, transport buddy she'd had!  He sounds like a total basset on paper, laid back, easy going, happy to meet people and other dogs once he's had the chance to weigh them up.  Will chase cats but...

Welcome Becky

Please give a big BRNGB welcome to Becky who joined the family yesterday.  Becky is under assessment at this time so please do not make any enquiries regarding her adoption as these will go unanswered.  Becky is a Fauve Basset and is 12 years old.  Although an older girl, she is fairly active and loves to have a good mooch and a sniff on her walks.  Her family surrendered her after a recent bereavement, our sincere condolences go to her family at this difficult time.  Becky is reportedly a stealth stealer of what she likes the look of and has no qualms of wandering past a dog and taking what it may have.  She's not aggresssive and is incredibly calming...

Thank you from Derek and Biscuit

Derek is settling in really well and would like to say thank you for all of his goodies from his wish list.  He's a very lucky boy to have you all supporting him from afar.  He's loving having a good rummage and snuffle around the garden and has settled in really well with his foster parents and siblings.  His vet check will be this week so we will be able to update further after.  All in all he's a happy boy, loving his walks, play time and curtain twitching.   Another boy who has been VERY spoilt by you all is Biscuit.  He's had a really rough ride the last few days and has been a little grumbly.  This is totally understandable considering what he's ...

Biscuit update

Biscuit update BISCUIT IS HOME! We are so pleased to say Biscuit was allowed home today (22nd August). He's doing really well and was so ready to be back home with his family, both two legged and four legged (the Bromance continues!). We are waiting for the biopsies and we will of course update you further. His neck wound is very clean and we are certain this will heal well. He's on a lot of pain killers and medication, but he is just so happy to be home with his family and we are so so pleased he is. There's a little wish list below for a few treats for Biscuit. He is still very bloody when he poops which is understandable, so we have added some pet friendly cleaner as he either doesn't man...

Thank you from Derek and Winston

Update on puppy Winston and a wish list

We know you are all dying to know how baby boy Winston is doing!  Well, he's moved to his permenant foster; you may recall he was an emergency surrender so he spent a few nights in a temporary foster.  He moved last weekend to a family who has a resident spaniel who he is begining to win round!  He also has basset family who he will meet up with.  Winston has been to the vets and has had his final vaccinations so is now ready to take on the big wide world.  Although Winston came with lots of toys, he does need his own "equipment" so he can start to venture outside so we have a little wish list for him.  Obviously he will grow out of most things quite quickly so ...

Violet thank you

Violet would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated to her wish list, I mean just look at this face, she's very happy with all of her goodies!  Violet has been to the vet, her weight is 24.8kg which we are all happy with, we certainly wouldn't want her to get any heavier. The advice for her skin was to use sudocrem and get some oat shampoo when bathing her. The vet was not concerned about her eyes believe its just the "basset eye".  We will of course keep an eye (no pun intended) on them.   Her ears a little gunky but there are no concerns, they just need a good cleaning.  We have included a couple of bits on anothe...

Ethel Update

Ethel arrived 2 weeks and 1 day ago, and is the most wonderful girl.  She loves everyone and everything she meets, and greets all with a wonderful tail wag and a butt wiggle.  She has such a happy, captivating soul, if she is in your presence then you can't do anything but smile at her.  Her favorite things are food, snuggles on the sofa, walks in the woods and meeting her new friends at a freedom field to have a good run around and play. Such an amazing well balance nature which is a true reflection on her previous owner who made the heartbreaking decision to surrender Ethel.  When Ethel arrived she was having trouble with her urine, she was passing a lot of bl...
