We have the most wonderful update on lovely Peggy.
Following on from her arrival (see below) and initial vet check, Peggy had a blood and urine test to see what was, if anything happening within.
We are so please to report that no ailments were found......yes zero. She's not in perfect health, but there are no concerns. This is what the vet said:-
Liver and kidneys good no sign of any infection.
Small crystals in urine but not a concern as drinking plenty
Slightly anaemic
Blood Pressure a wee bit high
This is amazing news for a hound of her years!
So Peggy is on some pain medication as obviously, at her age, her joints are giving her some pain, but apart form that she is a wonderful healthly girl.
She is loving life, having little mooches around, eating well, settling down, barking at the ducks!
We are so pleased.
Peggy will be going back to the vet's in a month for another check up to ensure all is well

PEGGY'S WELCOME
Well we could open a book and ask you to guess Peggy's age, but we won't we'll just tell you that on Peggy's next birthday, being the 9th December, Peggy will reach the amazing, grand old age of 16, yes SIX-TEEN years old! You honestly wouldn't think it looking at her!
Peggy joined the BRNGB family over the weekend, her original family not being able to look after her any more.
She had an amazing transport team, and quite the adventure. She had to be taken to one of their homes to be cleaned up as she was (understandably) very nervous and made a little bit of a mess in the car. Massive thank you to her team for looking after her so well.
We managed to match Peggy's needs to one of our fosters as close to her original location as possible so as not to stress her too much.
Peggy has had her vet check up already. This is what the vet reported back:-
Teeth are in poor condition and she is in a lot of pain with them. Soak all food to make as soft as possible
Cataract in one eye, suggestion is to leave be as the pressure is ok abd not causing a problem.
Ears are in awful condition, the vet couldn't see into them or scope them as thick with muck so regular cleaning and further look once some of the muck has cleared.
Possible skin disease
Weight is worrying as very lean, could be something underlying which will be investigated.
She is walking on her hocks at the back and not fully on her paws, she had her nails trimmed which may help
Heart and lungs are all sounding fine
Ribcage is very uncomfortable when being felt underneath which needs keeping an eye on
Requires a urine sample as won't be prescribed pain meds beyond 7 days until know what her other organ functions are, as well as a blood test to see what if anything it throws up.
Now, at Peggy's age we will carry out the investigations to see if there is any un-seen illness and we will then discuss options with the vet. We don't believe it would be fair or ethical to put Peggy thorugh any surgery for her teeth at this stage of her life so will see ,if any pain there, can it be managed with medication.
Once we have the result of the urine and blood test we will of course update.
Meanwhile, Peggy is investigating her new home, testing out the various beds and generally just enjoying being where she is.
