Newy joined the BRNGB family on the 1st May, she has a very sad back story.
We don't know a lot about her as her surrendering family had only had her for about 6 months. Newy went to them after her previous owner passed away. We are 99.9% certain that she has been used at some point for breeding. Her "undercarriage" is very stretched, nearly to the point of dragging the floor.
We know in the few months she was with the new family, she had a litter of pups; she reportedly arrived, unbeknown to them, pregnant. She had a litter of pups who all sadly passed away.
She will be having a vet check very soon, but we suspect that she may well need some intervention underneath to get her more comfortable. She will need spaying, she is also suffering with fur loss which will need investigating as well as the usual checks all of our hounds have.
Newy didn't come with a lot of additional information apart from she has lived with other bassets and cats before and is fairly laid back, apart from food. However she hasn't shown any signs of issues with food and has been fed with the resident hound in foster without any incidents.
We're sure you will agree that "NEWY" isn't very fitting for a lady basset, it's very impersonal and objectifying so we thought you would like to get involved in picking a new name for her.

Here's some more photos and a video to help you pick a fitting name (we've not purposely colour co-ordinated her with the resident hound!)
