September 24th 2023 is our 10th Birthday, a day of celebration of the 602 hounds we have helped find new homes.
To celebrate those families who made the heart breaking decision to surrender their hounds so they could have the life they deserved.
To celebrate the new homes those hounds now have and the love they are now being showered with.
All hounds that come into our care go to foster homes, they live with families for a minimum of 6 weeks to be assessed so we can make sure they get their perfect forever home.
Sadly 28 hounds over the last 10 years never left their foster homes. Their foster homes and families were their last before crossing the bridge.
There are various reasons why this happened, old age, illness, mis-treatment, psychological damage which just couldn't be undone.
We tried so hard for all of these hounds.
Some of our foster families have the mental scars and guilt of what if? what could we? should we have? why couldn't we?
Some also have they physical scars of those that just couldn't be helped.
Our moto of no basset gets forgotten is in the front of our minds this evening as we remember those we just couldn't save.
Please take a moment to look at the photos and remember these souls we just couldn't save and thank those foster families who gave their all to help them. There really was not anything more we could do for these beautiful hounds

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
