From an idea of setting up a Basset Rescue all those years ago, all the way through to welcoming the 668th hound into the family just a few hours ago.
It's been a journey that has made us all smile, laugh, cry, despair but most of all, come together and love this very special breed.
On our 10th birthday we celebrated rescuing 602 hounds, today we celebrate 668 hounds making us what we are.
Not only is it our day to celebrate, it's your day too. You have always been there supporting us, sharing your love of this amazing breed, volunteering for us, donating to us. You are all amazing and help us achieve the dream which became reality all those years ago.
Every year we have got busier, every year we have got stronger, every year we have gone above and beyond for these hounds. All with you walking beside us.
Thank you to you all for your support, dedication, time, donations.....everything you do for us which makes the rescue what it is.
Massive thank you to our foster families who live and breathe these hounds in their own homes; The Transporters who give so much time to travel miles and miles with the hounds; All of the volunteers that all do their little bit behind the scenes.
Finally, we don't say it very often, because we certainly are not in it for the glory, we are here for the hounds, but thank you to Sam, Sam, Dawn and Jo who spend hours a week making sure all these hounds get everything they need.
If you would like to make a birthday donation the link is below. Please do remember to tick Gift Aid where you can. It doesn't cost you anything but gives us money.
In the meantime, eat cake (Birthday cake doesn't have calories) and enjoy these photos of some of the hounds who have come through this wonderful Charity of ours. (More will be added shortly)
My beautiful girl Abbie came onto my sofa , bed and just took our hearts straight away .
She gave a new lease of life to our other basset Miss Dolly and got me through a rough few years
July 2019 she came as a foster and stayed ever since
I can't thank BRNGB enough your all truly amazing always about when I need a bit of advice
My beautiful girlies Tilly and Harley. They truly were made for eachother they are both wonderful failed fosters and brilliant foster sisters to whoever is in need. I couldn't be more proud of how far they have come, Harley has fought her anxiety battles and finally feels safe and secure in her own skin and is becoming the most loving little angel. Tilly has fought for her life twice in the last 18 months and pulled through both times with the most loving attitude, mamas miracle girl
Meg and Buddy have taken over our heats and world. They love to curl up together (despite have their own beds). They've grown in confidence and are happy to be together or on their own. They live the outdoors barking at the tractors and horse boxes. Nervous of strangers, but when with us are typical bassets with no sense of personal space. Meg loves to curl up beside you when watching TV. Buddy will creep up and insist on having a bear hug.
This is Millie Brngb who was adopted along with Lola in September 2018. She's the best Millie in the universe (in our opinion). She's also one of the Secret Santa Paws organisers for BRNGB. Thank you Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain and a very happy 11th birthday
This was the best Lola in the universe (in our opinion). We was adopted along with Millie in September 2018. Unfortunately she went to the rainbow bridge October 2022. She was extremely cheeky and she was always guaranteed to acknowledge a wolf whistle . We miss her but we were so grateful to have her in our lives. Thank you Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain the best dog charity
Our beautiful Louie came to us as a foster a couple of years ago. And he's never left!!! He had been quite poorly however with lots of love and attention he came on in leaps and bounds. We have become basset slaves and he's wrapped me round his paw so sassy, so funny and so demanding. Wouldn't have him any other way
Nell adopted 20 November 2021 as a 'monster'
She is, she's a cuddle monster. Had many dogs but none who have liked being hugged so hard.
This is Sweet Hettie. She came to me as a foster dog in 2019. She stayed and has since welcomed countless other fosters into our home, helping them feel safe with her kind and calm nature.
Henry who is now ATB who was the LOUDEST dog I've ever had. A very gentle soul who was supposed to be aggressive but never ever showed an ounce of that
Alfie of the infamous BRNGB puppies and foster fail Ben
Prudence & Carly.. Both BRNGB foster fails & a loving pair. They bring us laughter love & make our house a home. Thank you all at BRNGB you.. are always there for hounds & humans
Bertie Hound number 1 where it all began.
Forever missed
Luna and Floyd, mental mayhem!
Nancy. She adopted us in July 2020 and life has never been the same since. The biggest personality of any dog I have ever known.
Need I say more xx BLOSSOM A bundle of everything xx love, mischief, grumpiness and fun xx how our lives changed when we brought her home in January 2021
Our wonderful Willow who caused us to become foster failures at the first attempt! She came to us just before lockdown and was with us for 6 months before restrictions were lifted. She is a bundle of joy and mischief and makes us laugh every day. Sadly this year she was diagnosed with Lafora disease. However she has responded really well to her medication and has been seizure free since March. With the continued support of BRNGB she is managing really well and we adore her
6 years ago today Ludo came to us for 'fostering'…think he was the 1st mix for the charity? He was a crazy 10 month old pup who damaged his auntie Sam Savage shoulder with his strength but has turned into the most polite, sociable, loving and well bahaved boy (unlike his full Basset BRNGB sister who has gone the opposite way and an absolute horror and couldn't care less )
Norra was the first Basset we ever fostered, and she's still stuck with us.
She was why we volunteered to foster even more, and we're hoping to do so again, as soon as I can walk again.
Barney adopted November last year .12 years old .Here having a blast on Tolsta beach Lewis yesterday
Buddy Foster fail 2019. Melted our hearts at the moment we met him. How anyone could've not wanted this deep loving Soul I will never know, Thank you for letting us be the ones its a privilege every day x
Violet. The most loving and curious basset. Adopted Wednesday this week after fostering her. Loving life and enjoying her adventures
The gorgeous Winnie from BRNGB, sadly I lost her last year .She was the best snuggler ever .
Our beautiful foster fail Nana, who we adopted 3 years ago(2021) she celebrated her 8th Birthday beginning of September. She makes us smile every day and we are so grateful to BRNGB x
Rosie came to us 20th July with no intention of failing but you can't tell how things work out but some how we failed
Nelson aka Nelly. Adopted April 2015, went to the bridge March 2018, the dog who taught me so much about dogs....
Tiberius aka Tibs/Tibby, adopted April 2015 with Nelson, 11 in November...he will always be our little boy ....
Aurelia aka Miss Aura, adopted April 2018, went to the bridge December 2022..the most beautiful girl with a wonderful soul....
Bailey aka BooBoo, adopted November 2018, went to the bridge October 2023. Came in neglected but his eyes still shone. What a character he was...
Tilly came to us on a foster 'holiday' back in April and decided she'd rather like to adopt us. She's one cheeky tealeaf, full of character and has the strongest basset streak ever...but we adore her Thank you BRNGB xx
Elsie &Hugo&Nellie chilling out in the sofa had Hugo a year coming upto a year with other two . We're one big happy family with my Alfie my chocolate lab . Just wish I had a bigger bed and I could get in bed first instead of last hanging out of the bed with no duvet
