A look back on 2024

It's been a busy year at BRNGB for 2024, a total of 49 hounds were surrendered into our care over the last 12 months.

Our quietest month was January, the busiest being July with 9 hounds being surrendered, 5 of which arrived with us the same weekend.

Surprisingly, we didn't have any hounds join us in November.

We've had blind bassets, old bassets, baby bassets, stray bassets, abandoned bassets, incredibly poorly bassets, loving bassets, happy bassets, grieving bassets......all loved by their foster families, us and our wonderful supporters.

Out of the 49 hounds 14 remained in foster for Christmas, all the rest, except 2, found their forever homes.

We sadly lost 2 beautiful hounds whilst in foster during 2024.  A decision which is never taken lightly, but, at times, heartbreakingly, has to be made.  Those hounds lost will always remain in our hearts.

In total, since BRNGB started, 676 hounds have joined our forever growing family.  Every single hound has been loved and cherished by our amazing foster volunteers; their fabulous Transporters and Homecheckers, and of course you all, our supporters.

We'd like to take the opportunity to thank every single family who has had to make the awful decision to surrender their cherished hound into our family.  Thank you for trusting us with your hounds; for making the scary decision.  We hope that you all know that you made the right decision.

Here's the hounds you helped on their journey in 2024

January saw Rosie join us

February saw Barry, Florence and Bertie join the family

March was when Nelly, Sherman, Meg, Buddy, Tilly and Alfie joined us

April saw Henry and Brenwyn join us

May was the month for Millie, Lucille and Lola

June saw Crystal, Katie and Betsy finding their way to us

July saw a whole host of Bassets join us, Winter, Ethel, Biscuit, Nelson, Haggis, Marco, Lottie and Bolt

August, was also a busy month seeing Holly, Lincoln, Violet, Winston, Toby, Derek, Beryl and Becky join the family

September saw the arrival of King Henry, Alfie, Margot, Gus and Bear

October welcomed Maisie, Bertie, Basil, Cluseau and Beau into the family

December saw the last of the hounds join us for 2024, Hank, Bertie and Daisy

We sadly had to say goodbye to Bungle who joined the family in July and also Peggy who arrived with us in September

We also remember the hounds part of BRNGB family, adopted in years past, who have made their final journey over the bridge this year. Our hearts break each time we hear the news, but we are always grateful to have part of their journey in finding their forever homes.

We have also lost volunteers. We know that you would have received the warmest welcome by all those bassets who have passed; please continue to look after them for us. Your time volunteering for us over the years is deeply appreciated.

We also lost a true friend this year, a man who brought so much joy to our website and was with us from the beginning. We miss you, Jeff, and think of you often. We hope you are watching over us and all of our bassets.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us this past year. Each one of you is appreciated, and we look forward to hearing from you all, helping your bassets, and being surrounded by your care and love throughout 2025.

Please welcome Olive

Great work, no hound gets left behind. A true sentiment that is the embodiment of what this organisation is about. Great work team.

They do a good job of saving these hounds and finding special homes for life. They also work hard to raise money to pay for any vet bills.

We have the privilege of adopting Dylan. The whole process was seamless and very reassuring that they cover all bases, both in relation to vetting us and also in the assessment of the hound
