An update on little potato Winston

Just look at the little potato (well he's getting a big potato now!) Winston.

You may remember when Winston first joined us at 4 month old in August.

He's doing amazingly and is loving life, he's learning so very much from the resident spaniel.  He's been on holiday inlcuding exploring the beach and is generally being a wonderful puppy.

He's progressed from land sharking toes to shins as he grows!

However, sadly he does have an issue with his tail.  This was noticed on his arrival with us and after a vet check we all believed that it had probably been broken somehow before he arrived in our care and that it shouldn't cause any issues.  Recently he has been suffering pain with it, and it does cause him to cry out if it's touched or he lays on it.  (you can see in the photo above where the issue is).

Winston is booked into the vets this Friday for X-Rays.  We are incredibly hopeful that his tail can be re-set, however we've had to give consent tham this is amputated if it cannot be saved.  This is not an outcome that we want, but if it means that Winston is out of pain then sadly that is the decision that has to be made.  We will of course be led by the vets once we have the report from the X-Ray,

The X-Rays will be £400-£500 and the surgery, if required will be an additional £400.00.  The quote from the vets is below.

Please do keep Winston and his foster family in your thoughts and keep everything crossed that this beautiful little boy can keep his tail.

They do a good job of saving these hounds and finding special homes for life. They also work hard to raise money to pay for any vet bills.

We have the privilege of adopting Dylan. The whole process was seamless and very reassuring that they cover all bases, both in relation to vetting us and also in the assessment of the hound
