The wonderful lovely Maisie has left for her forever home.

She was adopted a week or so ago and has settled in with her Hound Sister (also a BRNGB Hound who sadly lost her other BRNGB Hound sister recently).

Maisie was such a joy to foster, she had a little bit of a rocky start when it came to a resident cat, and she did have a couple of sleep overs but once she arrived at her permanent foster she shined.

After having her surgery on her foot and face she was deemed fit and healthy.

We are so very pleased for Maisie and our hearts burst with every update we get.

Thank you to everyone who helped this girl find her forever, all the fosters, transporters, supporters and donators.

Happy pink sofa girlie

26th January 2025

Maisie has been in foster since October 2024 and has proved herself to be a lovely, loving little girl.  The only reason why her foster family are putting her blog out there to the world is because they want to continue to foster, even though it's breaking their hearts to say goodbye to this little girl.

Maisie arrived with us a closed down, nervous girl who's male owner had passed away. She was anxious on arrival and needed to be near people, her foster dad especially.

We immediately noticed a lump on her foot, her side and her head, as well as her skin, eyes and ears being quite inflamed.  She has had the required surgery on both her foot, her head and her skin inflammation is now under control with specialist food.  Her ears have been flushed and are all clear now but do need regular cleaning.  Her eyes are also now clear after a course of drops.  Maisie has been signed off by the vets as healthy and happy.

In foster we have learnt that Maisie cannot live with cats or small furries - so please do not apply if you have these.

Maisie loves her walks, and has enjoyed chasing and playing with her foster siblings at the freedom field.

Here's what her foster family have to say about her

Maisie is a very gentle natured girl who loves her cuddles and to sit next to you on the sofa .

She has no issues with food or toy guarding , loves playing tug with her toys as well as playing with other dogs she is gentle but when excited will bark in excitement when playing this is the only time she actually barks .

She so enjoys long walks would happily walk miles.  Loves countryside walks /parks /beach /freedom field or even around town walks where she greets everybody with lovely waggling tail and bum.  If the person gives a lot of fuss then Maisie may jump up at them.

She is well behaved in dog friendly shops /cafes . After her walk she likes to sleep for a couple of hours stretched out anywhere .

No issues with vet visits she will run in excited to see them all.

She is fully housetrained and will let you know if she needs to go out.  If she wants anything from a cuddle to food /toilet /walk she will let you know by either lifting her paw to you or a gentle squeak /cry .

Maisie travels really well in either the boot or back seat of the car.  I use a ramp but she can jump in.

Not bothered with chasing cats /squirrels /rabbits while she has been here when outside, but did fixate and chase the resident cat in her temporary foster, so no small furries or cats in the home.

Maise lets you clean ears and teeth and does get the zoomies after a bath, don't they all!!

She ideally needs someone who is at home at least most of the day and a resident dog or two for playing with and companionship she will follow them around in case she misses something .

She loves sleeping upstairs but not keen on stairs waits to be invited up and down the stairs, she will settle downstairs with other dogs for company.  Maisie doesn't like crates apparently, was told this from vet as she struggled in one when recovering

Likes to wonder around the house and sleep where she feels comfortable.

Possibly suited to older children who will play tug and cuddle her.

She has such a sweet, friendly nature always happy and snores when sleeping. She simply makes you smile just by looking at her.

Maisie's Needs - Please consider all of these before you put your application in

 - Resident dogs who she can play and settle down with

- Someone who will continue with her food so her skin inflammation doesn't return

- Someone who is home a lot of the time and who is prepared to work with Maisie's separation anxiety.  She can be left with resident dogs for a couple of hours after a good walk.

- No small furries or cats in the home

- Someone who is happy to go on long or short walks and keep Maisie's exercise up

- Maisie has never lived with children so only older (10 years and above) children in the home

-- Someone who is around most of the time in the initial few weeks to help Maisie settle in

Maisie's Applications will close on Sunday 2nd February 2025 at 8pm

Maisie looking for her forever home - Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain

21st December 2024

Maisie joined the BRNGB family back in October.  As soon as she arrived it was apparent that she had issues with her skin and a few lumps and bumps that needed to be looked into.

Her skin has really improved and in the last few weeks she has undergone tests on her lumps.

On the 10th December she went to have her poorly ears flushed and her dental.  The hope was that she would also have her lumps investigated.  A needle aspiration on the lump on her face was undertaken and thankfully this has come back clear.

The lump on her foot however was more of a mystery.

When the vet went in to investigate, they found it was full of cystic puss.  As the vet went to remove this they discovered it was full of coffee milkshake type substance which was horrible she said there was also crusting and hair inside which she didn't expect at all.

The vet had to stop the operation as Maisie's body temperature was dropping drastically.  The mass had shrunk and the vet wanted Maisie to go back in a week to complete the surgery.

Masie was left with a hole in her foot which allowed this to continue draining.

Maisie returned to the vet on the 20th after getting the amazing news that the lump on her face and that on her foot were both benign cysts.  Although her foot was chronically inflamed there was no bacteria present causing any infection so the final surgery to remove the mass on both her foot and face could go ahead.  The vet also removed one tooth and some lumps from her side at the same time.

Maisie is home and recovering very well.

We are so very grateful to her vets who have a fund in place for charities and Masie had a substantial reduction to her bill which totalled at £1130.17.  The second surgery was also not charged for so a big thank you to Cibyn Vet Clinic and of course Maisie's foster mum for giving her so much care during her recovery.

Thank you to all who have donated to Maisie, if you would like to donate to her surgery bill the link to do so is below.

Update on lovely Maisie - Basset Rescue Network of Great Britain

13th November 2024

Little Maisie has been on some adventures the last couple of weeks.  Sadly her original foster family realised that, heartbreakingly they were not right for her; their other resident (BRNGB) hounds weren't being mean, but weren't overly enthusiastic  about having a third wheel.... two’s company and three’s a crowd.

We are grateful for her first foster family for collecting Maisie and loving her for the first early weeks.

Maisie had a sleep over with another foster family whilst on route to our Sam for a week whilst transport could be put into place.  As you know all of our transporters are volunteer’s so it can take a few days to put a route into place so we are grateful to those who had Maisie during this time.

Whilst with Sam she had such fun and adventures, visiting pumpkin patches, garden centres and hanging out with the neighbour’s Jack Russells.  She even started to play with Sam’s two BRNGB girls.

Maisie then arrived with her now foster family in North Wales and has settled in beautifully.  Those days with other fosters have really helped her adapt and grown in confidence. She’s playing with all the residents, both human and hound.

Now Maisie does have some lumps and bumps which need to be investigated.  She also has quite inflamed skin.

We have changed her food to a hypoallergenic food and the only treats she has are carrots, which she loves!

Maisie has had her vet check which has shown that she has chronic ear and skin infections; the lump on her foot which we mentioned on her arrival does need to be removed and her teeth do need some attention.

She is currently having Cytopoint injections, and has drops for her ears and eyes as these are a little sore too with diamond eye which is a form of entropian.

Maisie is back at the vets on the 20th so hopefully thing shave improved, as you can see from the photos her skin has already started to clear up well.

Meanwhile she is loving life and enjoying being Maisie!

13th October 2024

Please welcome 6 year old  Maisie into the BRNGB family.

Maisie arrived yesterday.  She's a very nervous girl who is quite upset by her recent adventures.

Maisie's owner sadly passed away recently and his family couldn't keep her.  She is loving being around her foster dad and seems to prefer men at the moment (her owner was male). Our condolences to Maisie's family.

She had quite an unsettled night and is showing signs of anxiety about being left.  She has been left for up to 4 hours in the past so we are hopeful this will settle once she knows she is safe and loved.

Maisie will have a full vet check in the coming days.  Her skin is quite inflamed, her nails need attention (she apparently is not a fan of nails being clipped), she has a lump on her face and also a sore lump on her foot.  All will be assessed as soon as possible and we will get her as comfortable as she can be.

In the meantime, Maisie does need a couple of bits and pieces to help her settle into foster life.  A wish list is below if you are able to donate.  If you would rather donate to Maisie's treatment the link for donations is also below.

We are always so very grateful to everything you can donate and you all make a massive difference to these wonderful hounds who steal our hearts.

Thank you so much.
