Well Derek has been such a good boy with his foster family and their pack. He's slotted right in as if he's always been there.
Derek has had to have some treatment on his ears; this was noticed by his foster family quickly and with strict management this has improved, however we fear, as with a lot of bassets this could be an long term issue.
He also had some investigations into a long scar on his tummy; his vet records had no mention of this so after an inspection and some prodding and poking by the vet it was deemed he just had a strange "fold" in his skin. It doesn't bother him at all.
Derek also had what we thought was a potential hernia. The vet also inspected this and took a biopsy. We are so pleased to confirm that it is just a fatty lipoma and no further intervention is required unless it grows.
In the time Derek has been with his foster family he’s even welcomed other foster hounds into the house and shown them the way.
Derek’s foster family have really fallen for him and asked if they could adopt him, who are we to say no when he has settled in so very well.
We are therefore really pleased to announce that Derek has now found his forever home, with his foster family and their pack.

Derek arrived into the BRNGB family today. He's 7 years old, 8 later this year. He will be going to his permenant foster tomorrow where he will be fully assessed, have his vet checks and have anything he needs.
Derek is under assessment, any enquirires regarding his adoption will go unanswered.
All the information we have for Derek is that he's a very happy boy, he has his basset moments, but all in all loves to be loved. Apparently his most favorite thing ever is cheese, who can blame him!
We will be able to update on Derek more as we get to know him.
He does need to be fully kitted out so if you are able to donate to his wish list below please do. As always, anything donated will be Derek's throughout foster to his forever home. They never ever leave a Basset behind always do everything in their power to get the hounds to the right fosters and forever homes in a word they are "AMAZING".
Great work, no hound gets left behind. A true sentiment that is the embodiment of what this organisation is about. Great work team.
They do a good job of saving these hounds and finding special homes for life. They also work hard to raise money to pay for any vet bills.
