Nelson has been the perfect foster boy for the last 6 weeks.  He arrived the same day as Biscuit and Ethel, in fact they were all on the same transport run at one point.

He settled into life with his foster humans and four legged siblings perfectly.  A very well mannered and healthy boy.  All he's needed whilst in our care was his vaccinations.

He loves everyone and everything he meets.  Walks incredibly well, loves to greet everyone and plays like a basset pro! He's lost some weight and is now 36.7kg, he was 40kg when he arrived.  He's a very large framed boy so the vet is happy with his weight now.  It may sound over-weight but it's perfect for this big lad.

Here's what his foster mum said about him when we said his 6 week assessment was coming to an end:

We love him so much. He's such an amazing dog. He's got a very dominant personality and wants to be in charge. This is a dog who possesses a limitless capacity for affection. He's stubborn, wants everyone else's toys, loves people, loves his food, doesn't like to be left alone, and cries if he can't get to you....

We then asked whether his blog would be getting prepared for his final adoption......his foster family thought long and hard about this decision (no really they did) and they decided that Nelson had settled into their family perfectly, as such they asked if they could be his forever home.

So we are so very pleased to annouce, Nelson has his forever home.  It's like he's always been there.

Be happy Nelson, which we are sure you will be.

Thank you to all of Nelson's supporters and donators as well as his transport team.  You all played a massive part in this hounds journey.

Nelson arrived within the BRNGB family yesterday.  He was one of three hounds who arrived from seperate families., Nelson being the youngest, and by far the biggest lad!

Nelson is under assessment at present, he is not avaliable for adoption and any applications for him will go unanswered.

Nelson is 5 years old, 6 later this year.  He's a confident, stubborn lad, and although very large, he's not fat, just a big, solid boy!

He travelled to foster really well and has enjoyed exploring the garden and house and took introductions to his foster siblings like a superstar.  The most interesting part of the day for Nelson was when his foster dad cooked dinner!  Just look at that face above and you can guess where he was staring and pleading for a morsel to fall from above!

Nelson does have a sensitive tummy so we are being careful with what he eats, and following his previous owners guidelines as to what can cause him issues.

Nelson has enjoyed a couple of walks, and has been happy to see people and dogs go on by.

He does have a hernia which his previous family had checked and everyone was happy to leave it be.  He will be going for his first vet assessment this week, so we will make sure that all is well generally and double check the hernia.

So far the reports on Nelson is that he's a happy, polite, playful boy, enjoys exploring his new walks, he likes to be able to see and be close to his foster parents which is totally understandable a this stage in foster.

Nelson at this stage doesn't need a wish list, if that changes we will let you know. However if you would like to donate towards Nelson's care when he is with us we have a link below for donations.

Massive thank you to his transporters who took great care of Nelson on his journey.  He was quite happy in their company and settled perfectly.

We have the privilege of adopting Dylan. The whole process was seamless and very reassuring that they cover all bases, both in relation to vetting us and also in the assessment of the hound
