We are so pleased to announce that Lola has found her forever home.  

When Lola joined BRNGB her transporters had an awful journey, roadworks, road closures, traffic, they were on the road to get to Lola and then to take Lola to her foster home for around 10 hours; a journey which should have been around 4-5 hours!  

During the time they had Lola in the car (don't worry she wasn't there for the whole 10 hours!) they fell for Lola big time, just as her foster mum did in the weeks she had her in her care. 

We were so pleased to see that her transport angels applied for Lola, and after short listing applcations, conversations, homecheck and a very positive meet and greet, Lola was put into their car again and taken home (thankfully this time only an hour!) 

Thank you so very much to Lola's foster mum, we know she was a hard foster to let go.  You really healed her heart and soul after losing her original mum.  

Be happy Lola, we look forward to hearing all about your adventures.

Lovley Lola is ready for her forever home:-

Meet Mary Poppins, I mean Lola. 

She's practically perfect in every way. At ten years old she is still sprightly, happily jumping into the back of the car, the sofa and (her favourite place) up on beds. 

She's a gentle, sweet-natured girl who is happy to meet humans and dogs, unless they get right up in her face, when she will bark, but not snap. 

She previously lived alone, but has settled in well with my own dog, happy to share treats and pets. There is absolutely no sign of food aggression. 

She loves my grandchildren, eagerly waiting to spot them coming out of school and giving them a happy dance. 

She's also quite chatty. If the water bowl needs topping up, she will come and find me and woof. If my dog has something she wants, she stands there and woofs. As a former princess she doesn't understand why things aren't always for her first. 

After her mum died, she developed separation anxiety in her grief and started peeing in the house when left alone. Sadly, dad didn't feel able to meet her needs while also grieving. She has gradually built up her confidence and so far I have left her for 40 minutes with no problems, but her new owner will probably also need to make her feel secure before leaving her alone and continue building up the time. 

Lola is clean in the house, she wakes up with the sun and sometimes wants to go straight outside. Often, she just wants a cuddle. 

She sleeps on her bed (moving to the sofa), outside my bedroom door. If you tell her to go to her bed, she goes straight there. Also, last thing at night I call her out into the garden and tell her to wee and she does! 

This little girl loves her walks. She is used to being walked on a retractable lead. I'm fairly confident she would be fine off lead (well, as fine as any basset) once she is happily settled. 

She arrived with a bell on her collar so the owner knew where she was, but I find in secure fields she doesn't tend to go far away from me and comes back immediately when called. 

All in all, Lola is a beautiful little girl and will make a wonderful companion. Letting her go to her forever home will be incredibly hard, but she fully deserves a family of her own.

OLA's NEEDS

- Lola could live alone but she is enjoying and thriving with hound company so ideally another relaxed hound

- Someone who will be home pretty much all the time, Lola has seperation anxiety which can lead to her messing in the house.  She has her limits and her family will need to work to her limits only. 

- Someone who will be home most of the time in the early days to help her settle in

- Lola has not been small furry tested 

- Can live with children over the age of 6 but they need to understand Lola needs calm and peace to settle in

- Someone who will work with Lola and understand in the early days she needs her humans close

- Someone who understands positive reinforcement and will continue training with Lola

Taking on a rescue dog is not the easy option. You need to be prepared to help a confused and troubled hound find their place in your family. They have been through a massive upheaval and will need time to settle into a new way of life, so please consider this BEFORE you fill in an application.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Lola is subject to an adoption fees and a successful home check. If your home check is successful, your family including dogs will need to be able to travel to her foster home to meet them and her foster family.

You will also have a telephone call with a member of the team, plus Lola's foster family, so that all of her history can be shared with you in person, and that we can be assured that you can fill all of her needs, demands and requirements.

Lola will come with 5 weeks free insurance via our rehoming partner, Agria.

Lola, as with all of our hounds will have full rescue back up for life.

Lola joined the BRNGB family last weekend.  

She's settled in really well and is being a good girl, even if she likes climbing on the kitchen table and waking her foster mum up very early because, well a lady has her needs! 

She went for her vey check today, she does have some mouth abscess, a urine infection and urine crystals.  The vet provided a prescription so we could save some money and get the required medication on line. 

We will be getting Lola checked up again shortly. 

She really is a lovely girl and growing in confidence.
