July 2024
We are so pleased to share the fabulous news that the funniest, cutest, squeakiest, belly rub demanding, foot stamping little Dolly has been adopted!
Her foster family who welcomed her into their home a year ago now, and have spent hours a week bathing her and ensuring her skin got all the treatment it needed to become normal again just couldn't let her go (despite my efforts to run away with her - Jo) and they have now officially adopted Dolly.
In her time as a foster, she has welcomed other foster dogs into her home, she has been a security blanket to the resident Hound, Tommy, and helped the family heal over their grief of losing Gadget so suddenly whilst he was in foster.
Her soul and her presence really is something else.
Congratulations Dolly, we couldn't be happier.
Thank you to all of Dolly's supporters and volunteers and of course to her foster family for putting in all the hard work so she could be the hound she is.
June 2024
Whilst Dolly was originally blogged for her forever home earlier this year, the applications didn't work out for her for one reason or another.
You will recall that Dolly came into our care with awful skin condition. She's been in our care for 12 months now, and it has taken that long to get her skin, not 100% it will never be 100%, but so she's not in pain, can move, and she doesn't resemble the skin of a baby elephant! We've added some photos so you can see how bad her skin was when she arrived.
The best part a year of constant care, baths, special diet by her foster family have improved her skin and therefore her quality of life ten fold! Looking at her you wouldn't realise just how bad she was, apart from a couple of tell tale signs if you know where to look.
Dolly is the cutest, funniest little basset to ever walk the planet. She loves her humans, she loves being close. Her favorite past time is throwing herself on the floor in front of you for belly rubs if she feels that she hasn't had enough attention for at least 30 seconds!
She has the cutest dinner dance and when she gets excited she runs about to find you, then stamps her feet at you whilst squeaking.
I've had the joy of Dolly's company for the last 6 weeks as her foster family had a pre booked holiday; because of the continued care Dolly needs, 2 baths a week plus daily medication, they couldn't take Dolly with them.
The work, time and committment her foster family have put into Dolly's care has been and will continue to be exceptional; Dolly is a true testimate to what a foster family undertake for our hounds, the dedication and time given to this little funny hound really is outstanding.
I will be so sad to see her go back to them in a week, but know she is where she should be.
She's had a lovely holiday, even had a holiday within her holiday and has been so welcoming to everyone she has met.
I'm pleased I could be a little part of her journey

Dolly's journey with BRNGB is below:
Dolly is an total love bug, she just adores being around people.
She has been suffering with an upset tummy recenlty, and is fighting a long term skin complaint which is slowly coming under control with medication.
She gets her baths, and ear cleaned with medication with only the slightest of grumbles
UPDATE
Dolly's skin is so so much better, when she arrived it was like an elephant's hide, now it's nearly back to normal, with this her mobility has increased. Her ears are healthier.
Next on Dolly's list is some dental work that needs doing, she is booked in for this the first week of December, so fingers crossed all will be well and then she will be ready for her forever home.
Such a long journey, but so well worth it to get this girl fit, healthy and comfortable.
We've added some photos in the gallery of her journey......which seems to be a lot of sleeping!
