The amazing Lincoln has found his very own forever home. He went off very happily to his new home across the border with his new brother (who happens to be a BRNGB Hound).
He's very much missed by his foster mum and foster sister, but they have been so very happy to see his updates from his new family already.
He's such a special boy, we loved seeing the video of him after his first night charging down the hall to greet his new mum.
He arrived with us as a very well mannered hound and left exactly the same, his nature is wonderful and we are just so pleased for him.
A huge thank you to his foster mum; his supporters; his volunteers and everyone who helped Lincoln get his forever home.
We're loving the updates we've received and look forward to seeing Lincoln grown within his new family.
Be happy beautiful boy and congratulations

Meet Lincoln, the softest boy with the biggest heart.
Lincoln is an absolute cuddle monster; he wants nothing more than to be pet and snuggle up with his humans. If you aren’t showing him attention he will sit and chat at you until you give him loves. He’s a gentle creature and is sweet with all animals he has encountered, cats, dogs, chickens and horses.
He lives with me and my resident hound Wilma, he has shown no dominance traits however, can be a bit food possessive and may tell Wilma off if she is too close to his bone or kibble. He shows no aggression but will grumble but is not reactive to humans removing food.
It took him a couple of weeks to fully settle and he did cry at night as he sleeps downstairs with my resident hound. Since then, he has happily slept through the night with no issues.
He greets everyone he meets with a big wagging tail and will stop for pets when out walking. I haven’t met anyone whilst walking that can resist his charm. He does not jump up to greet people and will simply approach them, tail wagging and nudge their hands to get a pet.
He’s a very well-behaved hound and will respond to his name, he will come back when called off leash as he’s had a few doggy play dates at a local secure field and was wonderful with all other dogs of all shapes and sizes.
I walk him on a harness and he has both an extendable and standard lead. He can pull a little at first as he gets very excited to go for a walk but soon settles down and walks very well at my side. He is not reactive to any other animals on a lead, however he has shown wariness to un-neutered males, pre castration. When he arrived he couldn’t manage to walk far, but after gradually increasing the distance he will now happily and comfortably walk miles at a good pace.
He is very gentle natured and docile and has regularly spent time with my young niece and nephew and will happily sit whilst they wrap him up in blankets or cuddle him.
Being an older boy, he would be best suited in a quiet household, potentially with another dog at a similar energy level. During the day he can be often found asleep on my feet whilst im working.
Lincoln does suffer from separation anxiety and will fret when he knows I am leaving the house. He does settle down and doesn’t bark or howl whilst I am out, however this could be helped by having another dog in the house with him. He has been left for up to 3 hours and caused no noise, mess or damage. He has never damaged anything within the house or attempted to.
He is fully housetrained and will go outside using the “outside” command and of course will expect a treat for successfully going to do his business.
When Lincoln arrived, he was a little overweight, he has dropped weight but will need his food measuring to ensure he doesn’t gain weight again and regular exercise. He also had a severe ear infection which has been successfully treated, however he does not like his ears cleaned and I have been working to get him used to having his ears touched. He will need consistent training to show him its not going to hurt. He is also not a fan of having his claws cut and having more than one person present to cut them is advisable due to his size. For safety he has been to the vet for both and muzzled so far.
He lives for a treat and enjoys beef bones, rabbit ears and lamb legs. He is a very fast eater, so I’ve found larger treats that take a bit of work to get into suit him better and keep him occupied and stimulated much longer. He enjoys using my hounds snuffle mat for kibble.
He is pretty bombproof when it comes to noises and fears. He has no reaction at all to the hoover, fireworks, traffic, bangs, you name it, he wont care. He will bark if someone knocks on the door but will settle down after a few minutes.
Lincoln is a beautiful, sweet natured boy and would make an amazing addition to an easy going home with time to be around him most of the day.

Well Lincoln is proving to be somewhat of a star in foster. He's lost a little weight and is now around the 30kg mark.
He's having a wonderful time going here, there and everywhere. He's had a fabulous trip to the beach. He even went and carried out his own version of a home check for a new foster family! Total superstar!
We are pleased to say that his ears have cleared up with treatment; he is now fully vaccinated; and today is the day of his op for neuturing. Once he has been signed off he will be ready to find his forever home, so please do keep an eye for his blog!

Lincoln is doing well, he had his initial vet check within the first week of being in foster.
They found he has quite a severe ear infection, so bad the vet couldn't get the viewer into his ear so had given him steroids to make a start on clearing this up.
His weight is reasonable but could do with trimming down a couple of kilos. He was 32.2kg but with daily excercise this should help.
All of his joints all seem fine, as are his eyes and glands. He had his claws cut, his heart, lungs and breathing all checked and all came back good.
His lumps are not concerning, although these will need to be monitored over time if they change shape or size.
Dental and neutering are on the list once his ears have calmed down. Lincoln wasn't overly keen on being at the vet and being touched so he was muzzled which he dealt with perfectly.
Lincoln isn't really interested in playing with other dogs, he's happier being snuggled and cuddled with a human. He loves his walks, but isn't a fan of other entire males which is totally understandable as he is currently also entire. Hopefully this will subside once he's had his op!
He can be a typical grumpy basset if he decides what you are asking of him is just not on his agenda. He doesn't snap but will give a grumble, which is great communication and is being listened to accordingly.
When Lincoln went back to the vets for a checkup a week after his initial visit, his ears were still quite bad so he had an ear flush, his weight had also gone down to just under 31kg. As a treat for being so good a Pup-Cup was in order, although Lincoln was still too busy sulking to finish it all!
Lincoln still has a way to go and we will keep you updated.
Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported Lincoln on his journey.

Please give a big BRNGB welcome to LIncoln who joined the family today.
Lincoln is under assessment and is not avaliable for adoption at this time, any enquiries regarding his adoption will go unanswered.
He's a stunning lad, with a blue eye and a brown eye. He's a big lad and 7 years old.
His family had him from a puppy and he's showing all the signs of being a well mannered Hound.
He does have a wish list for some bits and pieces if you are able to donate. As always, Lincoln's belongings will stay with him throughout his foster to his forever home. If the list is empty then his wishes have been granted. If you would rather donate towards Lincoln's care then the link is below for that also.
He will be going for his vet check in the next week so we will update after that.
Thank you as always for your support.
